Default Exhaust tips

I noticed and removed this from the exhaust tip.. It has one on both sides located on the upper tip of both exhaust.. Anybody else took theirs off as well? It basically directs the exhaust air downwards.. I recently noticed that my bumper is hot to the touch where the upper exhaust tip exits and exhaust air hits the bumper since it is not connected to the quad tip,. However i did see some isf pics and videos that don't have this on the stock exhaust.. Leave it off or put it back?

^^ that looks like the extra that they comes with the aftermarket stock type exhaust diffuser. It is possible that you do not have the stock price anymore. Can you post a pic of the tips you have?

It's still the stock muffler.. This was located on the inside of the quad tips and bolted to the top oem exhaust opening.. Both sides had it.. curious to why it was there.. So none of you guys have it? Then it stays off then.. Maybe previous owner had it installed to reduce the heat on the bumper near the quad tips as i have posted earlier.. Either that or he just enjoys having dust blown up from his rear bumper..

I was talking about your tips that are attached to the bumper. Aftermarket quad tips for our cars have these pieces come with them.

I believe the aftermarket tips are chromed plastic.

Good call Adam. OP, I'd keep them on if you're keeping those tips.

Here's a photo I found online for the replica oem tips. You'll notice the edges aren't rounded the same as true oem. Like posted above, double check your tips incase they're not true oem in which case you'll need those elbows.

Thanks Jeff. Av8or sorry, I believe I have seen some that were chromed plastic which also had the down turns for the muffler's. Also if your have the aftermarket tips. It could have had a bumper replaced at one time or a tip fell off and the previous owner found those since the stock tips are 500+ a pop.

Better reinstall 'em or else something's gonna melt, either the bumper cover or (if you're lucky) the rep tips.

The oem tips are designed so this doesn't happen.
