Thumbs down Exhaust tip broke off

I was walking out of the grocery store and admiring my ride as I usually do and looked down and saw only 3 tips. I quickly said to myself WTF. My baby only has 3 eyes in the back. I ordered some exhaust tips off Ebay and when you put them side by side to the OEM they were a little smaller so I sent them back. **** I did not however know Lexus wanted $400 just for the 1 side. OUCHH... I would have replaced both sides for about $138 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-11-Lexus-...-/131317832685). Still thinking about it. Can anyone tell me how to replace exhaust tips for the F? It looks like I have to remove the bumper. Not sure. Is this common with the exhaust tips falling off?

I believe the car wash was the culprit.

You'll need to either take off the bumper or your axle back exhaust. Then there's 4 bolts holding the exhaust diffusers in place.

I would not consider this a common issue.

axle back exhaust? What is that? Is it easier to remove that or the bumper?

There's a bolt(s) holding on the tips at the top, nearly impossible to get to without removing the bumper. I had the same problem, seems alot of us do. Luckily, mine didn't fall off and I was able to give it a couple of spot welds

A serious error no matter what type vehicle one drives.

How old is your car? Lexus wouldn't repair it under warranty?

Mine fell off too but I backed into a curb. I've seen those aftermarket tips, I personally think they are ugly compared to the OEM ones and wouldn't use them. I think Sewell Lexus sold them for $250 a side.

The eBay tips look cheap compared to the OEM ones

Axle back are your mufflers..

I've never taken off the bumper but from what others have said it seems pretty easy. Mostly clips holding it on.

We had the same thing happen, took it in to our friendly local Lexus Service Manager and he fixed it right up, free of charge.

It is a Pre-certified 2010 F. I never even thought about warranty. I will call up Lexus in the AM.

Someone pried one of my tips off while parked at the mall. Pry marks were visible where the tips weld on to the housing. Unbelievable that another F owner would think of doing this. I doubt it tho, at least thats what I'm saying to myself.

1) If you are under full CPO warranty, they should cover it, the welds rust off.
2) Those ebay tips are aftermarket and are garbage
3) I know you are in Georgia, but if you attempt to buy these and replace them yourselves, you might need the screws and mounting brackets as well, I daily drive my car in Northern Illinois (snow/salt) and my screws were rusted in and broke off when I attempted to remove them by hand. I should have used an impact to remove them.
