Default Trouble?

Starting here to ask first but I currently have the CEL and VSC light both lit and 1st gear is locked out. Any ideas on what is causing this without having the codes read yet? Is it common to get both of these lights simultaneously? Having 1st gear locked out seems very concerning from a mechanical aspect to me, should I have it parked till I get it serviced? Thanks all.

That's natural to have 1st gear locked out giving the symptoms you see. It can be lots of things. Get the codes checked and from there, we can help assist you. Just out of curiosity, how did it happened? Did you install headers? Exhaust? Intake?

Yes, Its got after market Headers and exhaust. I had the codes read when they initially came in a few months ago and the dealership said its probably an o2 sensor. They would intermittently clear and come back in, my biggest concern was 1st being locked out because I hadn't noticed it before and thought it was a new symptom. Thanks.

The first gear lockout is normal. That's lexus version of "limp" mode in our F. Best to recheck the codes and check to see if it's the o2 sim (sikky headers) or o2 conditioner (ppe headers). I had read many issues with the o2 plastic wire melting and/or having the sim or conditioner failing.

My first gear was also locked out until I cleared the codes by installing an o2 condition from PPE

It's most likely ur 02 sim/conditioner and you probably have code p0607...I had this just happen to me...I replaced the 02 sim and no more CEL.

Most common issue with PPE seems to be a short in the wiring due to it getting too hot or whatever. Get the code and if it shows a bad sensor it would probably be best to get a new wiring extension from PPE. Switch that out first since it will be less expensive than a new sensor.

Or just get the tune and you don't have to worry about getting the CEL and limp mode and worrying about a conditioner or sim

I was going to say, maybe you should get the ECU tune, that way you can do away with the O2 issues once and for all!

Hope you get it sorted mate.

I've got PPE headers and Borla exhaust. I was getting the same issue. My o2 conditioner was fine. I put in a spark plug de- fouler and haven't had the light come on since.
