Default Radar Mirror From Behind

Hello all. I've been using a V1 remote display located in the left corner of the dash but don't like how it is just sitting out in the open. I've considered having some fiberglass work done to conceal it but perhaps the radar mirror may be a better option with the V1 display positioned within glass.

However, I'm assuming vehicles can still see the display (when alerting) from behind much the same way they could with a high mounted detector? If so, it seems like it isn't really solving my problem of lowering the display or positioning it so others can't see it.

Thanks for the help.

Brad

All you have to do is move it to the top of the steering column. I use velcro, works great. Nobody can see my alerts.

I did that before I put the display in the mirror.

How can anyone see your alerts if you display is positioned on top of the steering column?

Here's my setup:

Nobody can see that. Plus I have my windows tinted.

If you want to enhance things with your V1 setup, get the remote audio module from V1. It makes controlling the volume very easy and also allows you to shut off the unit without much movement in case you get stopped by you know who. The last thing you want is to have the unit beeping when a nosey LEO asks you to roll down the windows and starts looking around. (ask me how I know all that...LOL)

I would spend the money on dealing with the laser threat, than investing in the mirror.

True, you can't see it. Personally, I just don't want to block the gauge cluster. That is why I went for the corner - personal preference I suppose.

The only thing it's blocking is the '0' at the bottom of the tach, but yes, that's a matter of personal preference.

You can also get the V1 app instead of the concealed display, but I hear it's not very stellar plus you'd have to mount your phone somehow.

True. I used the app with the V1 in the BMW I had before and it was ok but I couldn't get into the routine to mount the phone, turn it on, etc. I just used the V1 as it came normally most of the time. I guess the other thing I like about the corner placement of the display is not having to look down to see the alert. Sounds like I should give this some more time and not rush into anything. I've only had the car a couple of months. I did install a kill switch for the v1 in case I have any window visitors but the remote display is sitting right there so unless I hide it in a plastic doughnut that won't fly either.

I have tints, so I doubt it's visible from the rear.
