Default Rearview Mirror compass....

I love this site for leeching free advice from fellow Lexi owners.

My reareview mirror compass 'sometimes' works, and sometimes not.

I also notice that when is does work, about half the time the brightness dims then goes to normal.

I tried the connection to the mirror itself to no avail.

This in an intermittant thing, not crucial, but a bit annoying.

Any suggestions?

Try keeping your eyes on the road ahead?

But... but If I keep my eyes on the road ahead, there is a really good chance that I will run over them and squish 'em.

MS there are various possibilities for the compass not working, Some of them are that if the vehicle is close to a earth magnetic field, you may have some sort of interference. And these are caused by artificial magnetic fields, under a steel tower between buildings or near a crossing, or the vehicle is magnetized. There could be a magnet or a metal object on or near the inside rear view mirror glove compartment which you would not know. or it could be the battery disconnected. if all the above is ok then you need to recalibrate the compass, And this should be done while the vehicle is in motion.if you have the owner manual refer to page 232 which has got details on how to recalibrate. Here is the attachment. So Long !!

Mann, thanks for the info.

I found that if I hold the compass button for 30 seconds or so, it comes back on. However the "C" prompt comes up.

Kinda fun calibrating it. Just drive in a tight circle once, then it corrects itself. Also important to check your region. West coast here is 6. That is important also.

Thanks for the advice.
