Oil on Spark plug thread.
Good job! Can you take some pictures while you're at it! Also (off topic) ... How has the F been in term of reliability after 117k miles? Any big issues? How much do you abuse it?

With 117K miles.. Still performs awesome.. It's going in for the ELF fuel pressure sensor gasket recall and valve lash inspection soon..

^^^^Really anywhere you want, Lexus Dealer, Toyota Dealer, Auto Parts Store, Amazon and etc. But using the search function I found this thread:

I did my plugs today at 110,000 miles. They look like everyone elses but the one behind the battery had a good amount of oil sitting on top of the hex section of the plug and on the bottom of the insulator. I cleaned the rest of the oil that had pooled in the hole with a cotton swab and didn't see it reappear. I am hoping the car was just overfilled with oil at one point? Or does this mean I need plug tube seals?
That is a good example of a leaking spark plug seal. Not a big deal except that it can lead to a short for that coil on plug especially if that plug well fills with oil. I'd probably consider changing the four seals on that valve cover.
Sometimes the seals will last a really long time, so I change them as needed. For some reason, when I change them, they don't seam to last as long as the originals which is the reason I do them as needed. Also, Toyota and Yamaha seals seem to be a lot better that other manufacturers. Don't know why.

I'll just mention that I've had the dealership do my oil twice and both times it was overfilled. I think all of us that have them change our oil should check it immediately after if not already doing so.
To anyone who may be keeping up with both this thread & any spark plug tube seal issues.
I did an at home plug change Sunday before last and noticed a good deal of oil on #s 6 & 7, past the nut & on the porcelain. There was also a bit of oil on the coils themselves. After a quick post I was pointed to the tube seals (thanks Lance) and wanted to post my experience in this thread.
I had 6 days left on my CPO. I was prepared to do this repair myself if Lexus didn't honor it - I was concerned the lack of a code / engine light would interfere with this - but the risks / complexity appealed to my safety net on this one. Fight for warranty coverage.
My SA was great and we worked together well. Most importantly, he knew I knew my ***** about the car and listened intently. After formulating a plan to pitch to CPO, all was successful & I got the car back yesterday. The list of items on the repair are as follows:
NEW SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS X8 AND ALL O RINGS
FUEL PUMP SEALS x2
FUEL PUMP INSULATORS x2
REGULATOR GASKETS x2 W/CYLINDER HEAD Gasket
Hope this helps someone else.
