Default Silver Engine Cover

Earlier this year I was having my coolant leak repair rechecked and somehow the black side covers and the silver engine cover "mysteriously" got scratched. Long story short they ordered new covers and are now telling me that the silver engine cover that came on the 2008 is no longer availabe and has been relplaced with the black one that is on the later models. Can anyone atest to this or is this just another line of dealership B.S. ? I also asked if they had done any of the ELF recalls and they told me that they had done several. I will be asking to speak the tech that will be performing this when I go to drop my car off.

lol sounds exactly like the same situation my buddy PiusGS went through at our local lexus dealership.. it also "mysteriously" got scratched on top of a few other broken plastic parts during a recall and maintenance job.. the worst part was they were never going to mention anything until he removed the engine over to notice broken pieces…after going back and forth with the dealership, they ordered him a valve cover for his 09 but ended up with the newer black model one too...It looks better IMO

Do you want the silver one? I'll trade you. Mine is in mint condition.

I actually bought a used black cover a while back just for the looks. I'll have to remember to put the old one back on when I get this done.

I like the silver because it matches the trim inside the car. I have never seen the black covers. Any photos?

I actually painted my silver engine cover SGM to match the body colour.

Doesn't look that different to the new darker version they are offering you.

Just depends on the colour of your car I guess. Darker works for SGM or black or red IMO.

Will dig out a photo of mine in a sec.

My car is silver. Thanks to everyone who replied. Still wondering if the silver is available but if not I will be replacing it with the black.
