Hey guys, so after a wash (esso touchless) had under carriage spray. I get a CEL and vsc and whatever off. I park it to take to the dealer and it goes away the next day. Anyone know what the prob could be?
This happened once before as well during same wash.
Thanks

Any modifications? Exhaust? Could be that one of the O2 sensors is not happy by being sprayed with a jet of water. Have you ever tried to have the codes read? Even though the CEL/VSC lights are off, there could still be a code stored in the memory.
Try hooking a cheap scan tool to the OBD port and scan for codes. It could give us an idea of what's going on.
Right now all we can do is guess for you.
Side note: I know that on some Toyota Sienna's, when we do an oil change and some of the oil drips down onto the O2 sensor from the oil filter, it causes the CEL to illuminate. Nothing serious, just clean with some carb spray and a wipe off with a rag and everything is good.
You could also try avoiding using car washes with the undercarriage wash.

Thanks for the response guys. After the car wash 15 minutes later the light turned off. I have a Joe Z PTS exhaust and intake, I will grab a OBD tool and see if anything pops up. Thanks!
When installing your exhaust the 02 sensor shields were probably cut allowing the water to hit it directly which is causing your CEL. When it drys...the CEL goes off. You have to replace those shields or sheild it some other way.
I had this same issue. My CEL would come on when driving in heavy rainstorms with puddling. I just used some foil and exhaust tape.

Alright code came back its a P0420. I read some posts about this code recommending new gaskets. The light came on randomly after i switched to sports mode. I recently got the joe-z pts and intake installed. So from my understanding this is either a leak, gasket or bad sensor?
Thanks guys

right before I sold it back to Lexus I replaced both O2 sensors, assuming thats where the issue was.
I would check that they put new gaskets in the exhaust at the main connection point as it was a BRAND NEW OEM exhaust system and there should be no issues at all.
my issues were all with the Borla cat back, after I installed the HKS SSM system and new gaskets on that car I had no more issues.
