Default Brake change

Ok, to start off. I tried searching for threads but no luck.. It looks like my F needs new front brakes. Is this simple to do myself or is it like my previous M3 and I shouldn't even try? If so, does anyone have any pointers? I used to change brakes on all my previous cars and trucks, my M3 was the first I didn't do.... Thanks all

And one more:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...rake-pads.html

I'm in the process of obtaining the parts for a brake job myself. Rotors, slotted from our new site sponsor, Adams Rotors. My rear pads are still good, so I'll be sticking with those. For pads for the front I'm going with Ferodo DS2500. I found a new source for those http://speed-freaks.net. If any of you guys are interested I have a Coupon code good for 5% off.

Lou

Just curious, what made your M3 brakes so hard to change?

There were sensors, wires, and all sorts of other weird stuff to have to play with. Someone posted on the M3 forum a DIY brake change, it was long and complicated so I didn't bother. Plus I had the maintenance plan so didn't have to do it myself anyway.....

Thanks to all for the help and info.. Did the brakes today, all done in just shy of an hr.... I really apprecate it..... Also, thanks for the link for the pads.. I called my local dealership and they wanted $436 for the pads alone..... I got the Hawk pads for $270... Very happy so far....

There it is right there... I know there is a certain satisfaction in doing your own work sometimes, but the BMW maintenance plan is definitely something I took advantage of back when I had my old 335i.

I've never done brakes, but have heard how ridiculously expensive it is at the dealership, and am fairly certain that I've done installs more complicated than swapping out pads and rotors. I've just always been worried that I'd mess something up and then end up not being able to stop my car. At least with the other stuff I've done to previous cars, the worst that could have realistically happened is that my car would just stop running and leave me stranded somewhere. I think I'm really going to try my hand and doing the brakes on the IS-F though.

Swapping my brakes out to ceramic was one of the first things I did to my IS-F. Super easy process.

LOL, now I cant wait for the rears to go so I can do them because I'm over the brake dust..... It might look weird for a bit cause my front rims will be clean and my rears will be covered......
