Default New Brakes

Im in need of some new brakes and was wondering what everyone was using or what would be a good buy. I want to change the rotors and brake pads. any suggestions would be great thats not too expensive. I have a '99 GS300 sittin on stock chromes so if BBK would work i wouldnt mind throwing some on. Thanks for any info, from what Ive read Brembo Brakes and Hawks HPS pads are good but wanna know what the lexus guys are running with.

BBK's wouldn't fit on there with stock chromes in most cases. You can also go with Rotora Rotors and EBC pads as an option. Do some searching, there lots of options available.

heres one..

I'm very satisfied with the Stoptech Stage 2 brake upgrade, covers all four corners and will still work fine with the chromies homies.

When selecting brake upgrades, you gotta ask yourself how you will be using the car. i.e. track, aggressive driving, or Drag? If you are just using your car for spirited driving, then an upgraded rotor, pads, and SS lines will do. But if you are using your car for track days and lots of highway high speed stops, then I highly suggest a BBK. I personally have the D2 racing BBK in the 8 pot 355mm setup and the 18" IS350 wheels will clear it fine. You can also opt to go the 8 or 6 pot 330mm rotor if you're rolling on 17" wheels. Hope this helps.

If you want to upgrade the whole brake system but keep costs down I would say go for the Supra brakes which are a good price compared to other bbk or the LS400 brakes which is even cheaper.

LS400/Supra calipers will fit as long as you have spacers (preferably 15mm).

**** a chrome 17!!! From reading your post "if BBK would work i wouldnt mind slaping some on" then money is no issue in that case get some 19's or 20's and the supra tt kit !!! if not go with the stage 2 upgrade from stop tech listed above it will fit with the stock wheels. or theres always OEM . IMO if your running stock dia wheels on stock motor, OEM brakes are fine.

Henry (GSteg) is selling some LS calipers at a good price. Check the classifieds.
