Excessive "check vsa" lights
Hey guys, I recently picked up an 08 USB ISF with 34k miles. One of the first things I did was install a joeZ intake pipe and afe dry filter. I did not disconnect the battery, but after my first "check vsa" light I did. Here is my question(s):
- is there any way to check the code without an obd2 scanner? I do not have one (if there is any so cal ISF owners with one I'd gladly compensate u for helping me in scanning the code).
- I am assuming the intake is the reason for the "check vsa" light, any other common issues that may be causing this? The intake pipe seems to be screaming hot and the check vsa light seems to come on when it's rather hot out and I've been in stop and go traffic.
I seem to get the check vsa light every few weeks and I am contemplating taking it to the dealer. TIA for any help, it's much appreciated.

You can easily stop by an automotive store like pepboys and they can obdii scan it for free.
Your intake couplers may need to be tightened/straightened out, but I suspect you just need to clean/reattach your maf sensor.
I played with intakes alot and never had any cels or codes pop up :/
Good luck

Seems to be an installation issue......
Something is not lined up right, which is causing the light to come on/off intermintetly.
or
You need a proper MAF cleaner....

I'll be taking a look at that, thanks. I do recall seeing a thread where one owner had an intake installed and was incorrectly aligned. Ive checked the couplers, etc several times and all seems fine, but for peace of mind I'll just reinstall it all. Thanks again.

Not in California. Sucks they won't do this but somehow lawyers got involved so now you have to rent the device if you want to read codes in the Golden State. Just another of the small reasons I left happily five years ago.
