With family, I'd say the GX. It's got more room for comfort and your belongings. Sure you would probably get there faster in the F, but for everyone's sake, I think that's why you guys have the GX.

My 2 cents... If you'll miss the fun of driving the IS-F. I'd highly suggest use that one. GX is a given, it is more for comfort.
I don't think there's a difference in drive time whether you drive the IS-F or the GX... the most you can do safely with your family is what? 65-75 or it all depends on the flow of the traffic. For instance, I'm sure some of you have driven 80 mph side by side with a CHP as long as you are all going with the flow.
My answer is... drive the IS-F.

We have 1 kid, we take the GX every place we go. This time I wanted to try the ISF. No fast driving though. See if ya can spot me in Tahoe.

I recently got back from a road trip across the country in my F. Both my friend and I were extremely surprised at how comfortable the ride was for such a performance oriented car. We did a total of 4800 miles in 9-10 days and some days lasted 13-14 hours. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

From Sunnyvale to Tahoe, that's roughly a 3.5-4 hour trip depending on what time you leave. It'll definitely be easier to pass up cars and trucks on i-80 with the F, but as soon as you get a little past colfax, the roads get pretty rough since it gets abused from the snow, water, sand, etc. It's not unbearable but if you're family has ever complained about how the F takes on continuous bumps in the road, then they're going to complain on that stretch of 80. If you want to take the F, then take the F...but if you want to ride in comfort and have no worries in the world, then cruise in the GX.

you guys that take your F all over the place/road trips, are brave! haha my wife and i just got back from vegas (took a rental) and man, some parts of the freeway were tore up. i kept thinking, 'glad we didn't bring our own cars.'
i'm too paranoid to screw up the alignment or get any damage from road debris to take it anywhere i'm not completely familiar w/ the roads.
