Default 08 ISF Windshield replaced - creaking/squeaking galore

Hello,

A rock kicked up from the freeway ended up creating a crack that required a windshield replacement.

Windshield is "Pilkington" brand not OEM Lexus, and after it was replaced, there are creaks and squeaks around the entire frame of the windshield. Going up a driveway at an angle, accelerating, turning, speed bumps, slightly rough roads, all can cause the creaks.

Just wondering if there are specific parts or procedures for a windshield replacement on an 2008 ISF? The installer was familiar with Lexus windshield replacements, but the amount of creaks are insane.

Anyone recommend a good (QUALITY) windshield replacement company in Southern California? I will call the company that performed the job to see what they can do, but I don't think they will do anything about it.

Thanks for anyones input.

That sucks to hear. I think its always best to stick with OEM glass..

It's unlikely the glass is the culprit (but not impossible). More than likely it's the adhesive they used. Does it leak at all? Have you had rain to confirm the installation was a good one?

I just had my windshield replaced a couple of months ago by safelight auto glass and there were no "squeaks" but definitely a loud wind noise coming from the passenger lower area..
I called them and they came out again and confirmed a small leak in that area and put some more adhesive in that area to "plug the leak" and problem solved!
I would definitely call them and DEMAND that they take care of the problem.....

I had this problem with my 2009 GS. Lexus had to remove the windshield and reinstall it to get a perfect seal. That solved the problem. I doubt that spot application of an adhesive will do anything.

If your getting creaks and squeaks, sounds like they didn't do a perfect job sealing it up.

If your hearing increased cabin noise though, I found out through Sewell Lexus that the OEM glass is designed to be "Acoustic-controlled" and has noise dampening properties and actually is designed to transmit less noise from the exterior into the cabin while driving. This came up when another member had Pilkington glass as a replacement on his ISx50 and noticed odd noises and such coming from the windshield area.

I made sure my windshield replacement was OEM for that reason when my windshield got cracked too!
