I am Ryan Mathew and I am from South Africa.
Due to living out in the midlle of no where, I had a set of headers made up specifically for the car.

As you can guess I a now in limp mode and have a recurring lambda fault.
I am using cat foolers and these should have fixed my problem.

My question is this a placement issue , in terms of where the sensor sits in the air flow or as a result of having tho lengthen the sensor harness?

Is it possible your O2 sensors were damaged when they were removed? Did they give you a hard time when you were trying to unthread them?

 

What engine codes did it read when faulted?

Could be a fuse or a O2 that got damaged.

 

It throws a LAMBDA CODE- BANK 2

I have ordered a new oxygen sensor to check if there has been some damage.
It's strange though- I need to do +/- 250km once the battery has been reset for the code to come up. My thinking is if there is a part that is defective surely it should code from start up.

 

You could have saved urself the trouble and just ordered a pair of sikky or ppe. Hope the issue gets resolved

 

Not really an option for me- given that the shipping costs to South Africa are more than the price of the items themselves.

 

It is possible to test a O2 sensor. Here's is one of many sites that explain how to test both on the car and on the bench.

But keep in mind these companies have spent lots of time in their R&D to create a propely flowing header wich works inconjuction with the location & operation of the primary AF Ratio O2 sensors...

You problem may still occur with New sensors....
.. hopefully not.

Not familiar with how exactly you fool the o2 sensors on these cars, but you are using o2 sensor spacers right? Those will space out the o2 sensor further from the added gas keeping you from throwing a lean or rich fault code, and also preserve the life of the sensor itself. We do it on VW's all the time, works like a charm

 

Update-

The sensors are fine- both the AFR and Oxygen sensors have been replaced.
But the code still remains.

@JOE Z- having just paid my 'school fees' I agree I will probably bite the bullet and import a set of proven headers.

 

Might be a dumb question but is this a right or left hand drive>

I thought SA was RH Drive and hence you couldn't have got a set of sikkys

 

South African folks drive on the left side of the road, so I would assume vehicles native to SA are right hand drive. OP, can you share?

And, just a note, PPE is in the process of developing right hand drive headers. Paul, from PPE, was in Australia last month to take measurements. Stay tuned.

ERDoc blew a fuse for the front AF ratio sensor. It wouldn't hurt to check that out as well.

 

Correct SA is right hand drive.
