Default the isf engine was detuned?!

So I was talking to the mechanic at my dealership. He is selling his 1200 hp supra and said he wants to get an f. He wants to hook it up. I ask what all he would do. He says the first thing is to get the orignal hp back. He says it orinally was putting out 500 hp 550tq. It was Detuned because the body couldn't handle it. Any truth in this? He said all it is is the cpu. He knows how to chnge the ecu with something hks sells. Anyone know about this?

Im sure the f can do that, but if it could be done with an HKS product dont you think we would have already done it?? I would buy a engine management in a heartbeat if it was real....

500hp/550tq from the factory originally? Sounds like your mech was smoking something.

Idk, but it sounds good though!! If your mechanic can do it, please tell him to share so we all can have those gains!!

Lol. Well it was him and my service adviser who also confirmed that the engine was Detuned. Adviser said he was getting trained on the f back before it came out and the driver of it cracked the sun roof. They are both gear heads but I doubt they can gain much from lying to me. Adviser was proud to say that it did those numbers without the need of a supercharger......cough cts-v cough.

I had heard before it was de-tuned so as not to compete with the LFA at 6-times the price.. But I can't find any links. I have no doubt you could get more out of it but nobody has cracked the ECU. And it doesn't look likely that it ever will be either.

I don't doubt that the engine is capable of more than its current rated horsepower, but I doubt that 500 is possible without major work. Look at Ford's 5 liter engine. They "tweaked" it for the Boss 302 application and still only got it to 440 hp. This is a new engine designed for free breathing and did not get near 500 hp. Getting 100 hp/liter without forced induction is very difficult, but it is not impossible, look at the Honda
S2000.

Detuned? Not likely in the ECM. More like they changed the exhaust and dropped the power since this is one of the really rare Toyota engines that makes a BIG power gain from changing the exhaust.

There's nothing from HKS, or anyone else for that matter, proved to work on a USDM Lexus. iCode has what appears to be software for JDM cars, but putting their tune into a US model would be ECM suicide.

^ I know of one US Spec IS-F that has major internal motor work..

It's making about 500 rwhp all motor.. But NO safe tune...

Well yea would make sense, but even if the f did come with equal hp as the lfa it still wouldnt rev to 9000rpm in .6 secs like the lfa! amazing
