It changes the feel. Just like putting a quarter turn throttle on a liter bike. It doesn't actually go any faster, but it sure feels different because you move your wrist a whole lot less for whole lot more go. This is also the same as changing your brake pads and feeling like the car stops sooner. It really doesn't, it just takes less effort for the same amount of stopping power.

I've noticed some sluggishness from a stop in my car lately. It happens when the RPMs drop to about 500RPM at a light. It appears when the A/C compressor shuts off the RPMs drop and takeoff is sluggish. It's ok though, saves gas at a light.
