Ok, who can tell me what is sitting on top the stock intake? Seems unlikely Lexus would just put it on unless its serving some purpose. Almost looks like it could open which would be nice if you wanted to pop some popcorn.

It's a resonator used to help diffuse/quiet down the sound. Most all intake systems have their own variation of a resonator chamber. It was engineered at that location for a reason.

in most sedans, it is usually a lot bigger and usually it is a separate chamber attached to the main air box. most intakes will be a lot louder by simply removing the resonator.

the F has loud intake partially because it has a tiny resonator.
