Without proper engine management to deal with timing, I'd never do Nitrous 9wet or dry kits)

the engine is too delicate... i personally would not touch it... or maybe just do something small like a 50 shot

If you're running spray, you can kiss your engine goodbye! And given the fact that the 2UR-GSE 5.0 is basically a Yamaha motor built for racing, you're looking at some serious coinage for replacement!

just say no

You guys are funny and misinformed. Nitrous is just fine as a power adder as long as it's tuned right.

Funny how you'd all jump on the bandwagon for someone to re-tune your ECM without ever even running their tune on a dyno, but you'll dismiss nitrous without even a thought.

Oh, it's NOT a racing engine in any way, shape, or form. It has some high performance features, but a racing engine it clearly isn't. It's too heavy, too under powered, and doesn't even have a dry sump oiling system.

I know, aren't we funny? You know in life, sometimes it's ok to be funny and amuse each other with off the wall comments and inane spew. It makes life tolerable.

True the IS-F doesn't have a true dry sump oil system which would be really easy to add, it does have a high performance oil delivery system that has been tested at numerous tracks and has had absolutely no evidence of running hot after hours of arduous cornering. TRD stands for Toytota Racing Development, Yamaha has been building racing motors for years...............but I guess there is no racing development in the 2UR-GSE motor?

You've obviously never done this or you wouldn't say something so uninformed.

TRD had nothing to do with developing the IS-F. Yamaha has been designing heads for Toyota for many years. So what? It doesn't make this engine any more a racing engine than the Cosworth Vega's engine with a Cosworth head on a Chevy bottom end.

Yeah, I'd say you called it dead on the money.

Yeah, I'd say you called it dead on the money.

According to this article TRD was responsible for the entire suspension And TRD developed the defunct 5.2 liter for the IS-F prototype that never made it into production...... But they had "nothing to do with developing the IS-F". I think TRD whether it being directly or indirectly had a lot to do with the production of the IS-F. I know that Skunk was involved and the same team that developed the MkIV supra in addition to TRD.

Wasn't it also you that said MHP couldn't tune the IS-F?

Nitrous will work fine on the IS-F. I'd run 100hp shot all day long.

8speed - Not hating or flaming! But just stop. TRD has never had anything worth a crap. Every project has been scraped because it fails. Even Nascar is having problems with them on their few toyota cars. Joe Gibbs fired them and took over the toyota motor program his self. The best products to ever come from TRD is the new F-sport line. Your giving links to gaming sites and to a thread that to Real "motor heads" still hasn't been proven yet. So stop, please. You should think of TRD as suspenion only from now on, but who can't stamp metal and make it perform.

Well, let's see, I've read everything Lexus released about the F, been to the Lexus Driving Academy, and I've never once heard any mention of TRD (USA or Japan) being involved in the development of the car for any feature. Lots about the Skunkworks-like team at Lexus who actually DID develop the car, but not a word about TRD involvement. And as HKS350 said, I've never seen anything TRD USA did themselves that turned out worth anything for a street car. Formula Atlantic 4A-GE engines, sure, but something streetable with TRD stuff working well? Never.

I have no interest in discussing my comments about tuning a Toyota ECM. You can keep any comments you have about this to yourself, you'll get no traction here.

And again, the engine in the F is not a racing engine in any respect. I guarantee you, Andy will agree with me on that even if we disagree about other things.

Last but not least, it's pretty patently obvious you've never done engine work. If you had, you wouldn't say putting a dry sump in a wet sump engine is easy. It's not.

Do I have to have an AMP license or ASE certification to post in here and comment on cars

So am I wrong in saying TRD did the suspension for the IS-F? If so I will accept that and move on. Thanks for your insight Lobux, your experience and dedication is respected in here as far as I'm concerned

And as far as discussing the IS-F ECM I don't have to keep my comments to myself, I will simply go to the MHP thread that I started mind you and discuss it cogently with respect to my fellow members!

Cheers- 8speed

The conflict was that TRD had nothing to do with the IS-F...........my response and contention is that they developed the 5.2 liter for the project IS300 (true) and that they produced the complete suspension for the IS-F (also true). I don't want to argue semantics but as far as I'm concerned, TRD is involved in one way or another. I never once said that TRD is great...........Nascar? Good one!

back on topic, sorry to OP!
