I received my ECM/TCM back from MHP today and installed it tonight. I hope to be able to make dyno runs no later than Friday. I will be using the same dyno that Peter (houstonT) used to test his F after installing the Joe Z exhaust system.
I am susposed to receive my Joe Z Cat-Back exhaust system Friday. If I do, I will install it over the weekend.
The problem is that I will not be able to dyno the combination of the ECM/TCM tune combined with the Cat-Back exhaust until after the 18th of the month. I will be in conferences all day between Monday the 9th and Thursday the 12th. On Friday, Karen and I will be flying out of Houston on vacation and will not return until Wednesday the 18th. I will try to schedule the dyno for as soon as possible after we return.
Great news, now make sure that you drive those 200 miles HARD before hitting the dyno. Depending on your numbers (after the exhaust) I may be buying one. Enjoy your vacation.

This may have already been asked, but will the Tune void our warranty?

Might want to look through this. It is pretty informative if you haven't already checked it out. I just did a search of the first three pages and found warranty info on page 1 and page 3 and I'm sure there is much more mentioned
Sounds exciting Pat!! Can't wait to see these results..
In my opinion, I would have liked to see Base Dyno -> Exhaust Dyno -> Tune & Exhaust Combo Dyno
So that if any necessary tuning adjustments needed to be made to compensate for the exhaust, it could have been done accordingly.
But hey, I’m just thinking out loud…

^^ Interesting Juan...
Does the stock IS-F need to be driven "HARD" for 200 miles before the Base Dyno Testing??
Great work thus far will all the testing and time you have put into this..

I can't wait to see the results either, thanks for stepping up for everyone and being the first MHP v2 ECU/TCU + Joe Z exhaust "tester". I think we'll see great results from this combo of parts.
Joe to answer your question, we eliminate over 80% of the adaptive learning of the ECU/TCU so you could in theory drive the car 200 hard miles with the stock controllers but it wouldn't make any difference as the adaptives would step in. The initial break-in period that we spec is for the ECU/TCU to learn each other--this has to happen when doing complete driveline (not just ECU) tuning. If you just get an ECU you'll be set to test after the initial 40 hard miles. TCU takes longer to set.
Any word on longtube R&D from MHP? Or any other parts for that matter (intake, thermalnators etc...)
My C63 is off the rack and we're looking for an IS-F to put in the air for 4-5 weeks. In exchange the customer will receive a FREE full exhaust (1 5/8" or 1 3/4" primaries with 2.5" collectors with high velocity merge collectors, X-pipe, resonators, mufflers (your choice straight through or baffled) and 02 extensions; all our systems are 304 stainless and carry a lifetime warranty on everything in the kits. We'll also be doing just longtubes with your choice of cell count of metallic substrate cats (100-500cpi) or off-road mids that mates to either the stock catback or the Joe Z system (since we both use the factory mounting points).

Hmm...somewhat interested. I just bought my F and it's in WI right now. And I don't need it until the end of March. Do your systems meet the dB requirements? Do I get back the stock parts? Any sound clips and pics of other setups you've done? And I'm assuming you're in Ohio based on your profile? Thanks!

Yes, with 300cpi + cats you'll meet legal dB reqs. Yes, you get back your stock parts as well. Yes, we're based in OH. We fabricate our exhausts at one of our satelite shops on the East side of Cleveland (near Akron).
Give me a week or so and I'll have HD clips of our C63 system (granted it will have no cats and is full 3" with straight through mufflers so it will be a LOT louder than what you have planned).
Here are some shots of our GT500 system:
Not too worried about the warantee issues. I think it would be real hard for our local Lexus dealer to determine that the ECM/TCM had been tuned without the tools to go down to the 1/0 level of programming. I really don't expect to trash either the engine or the transmission. If I do, and they won't warantee it, then I will just have to live with the results of my own decisions.
"Butt dyno" tells me that I have more power, but after two weeks of driving the 2002 Ford Expedition my wife used to drive I am not sure how accurate the "butt dyno" is. Later this week I will dyno it on Advanced Racing Dynamics dyno were I did my initial pulls and where Peter (houstonT) did his pulls after he installed the Joe Z cat-back system.
Joe Z,
I considered installing the cat-back system before the tune, but we have the dyno information from Peter. I know that our cars are not exactly identical, but think they are fairly close. This way we can see what the hp/tq gains are from the MHP tune, hp/tq gain from the cat-backs, and hp/tq from combo.
