However, only 8 speed "automatic" on that car?? With everything turning to only automatic, Toyota/Lexus are campaigning to kill manual transmission by offering only automatics on their line up .

You know they mention in that vid it could be part electric but if it has an eight speed auto im sure its the eight speed from the new LS and will likely share a similiar motor.
But, the rumble from the exhaust sounded like a v8? no? Electric hybrid cars almost have no exhaust or engine note.

Wow, that thing sounded pretty good when pulling out of that gas station. Like someone else stated, I think hybrids are completely silent up to like 24MPH because they run on electricity at low speeds, so my bet is that this is gas powered.
Plus they talk about adding electric motors to the 3.5L V6 like it hasn't been done, and that's the exact combo in the GS450h (obviously). 340HP won't be enough, or really worth it IMO, to battle the RS4 and M3
Just note that the GS450h beat the GS430 and Fuga 450GT (M45) in a 3 lap battle at Tsukuba on Best Motoring. The battery was gone after the first lap (which it did 3 secs faster than the Fuga) but it still managed to keep its lead for 2 more laps.
