Hi. Totally noob here on the color codes issue.
need To replace a bunch of my direct injectors
08 IS-F 120k+ miles.
can someone please explain color codes, and difference in regards to these? Which color which bank?
the more I read other info on these, the more questions I have.
some say all black ones are compatible with all 8 of our cylinders.
some say brown works as well…
what are the differences? And does anyone have a diagram which are which?
mine were aftermarket some pink color from way back when. I have fueling issues now due to seals on ALL injectors (the white hard plastic/rubber rings around injector itself)
I believe the gray ones are on the right bank and black on the left it’s a little different but I’m not 100%
looking at parts available on Lexus parts catalogue it seems like there’s 3 types. Black/brown, and sometimes green grommet ones used for our isf’s
some sites say it’s color per bank, other say they it’s unique to each motor from factory.
if only Lexus could have this info available somewhere….
seems like even their techs don’t usually know about this. I mean there’s quite a bit of 2UR motors around nowadays I’d all newer models.
i wonder if I have to buy all new 8 injectors, is there any larger size ones? Or it dosnt matter for DI? I figure people that upgrade injectors on these only upgrade the port injectors.
Port injectors I've seen are pink. Then there are 4 colours for the direct ones but those are all the same colour on a given engine. Don't think there is any way to know what direct injectors a particular engine has without seeing the originals.
There's nothing to help the technician in TIS for injector selection. Even the training materials say nothing about this except put the injector back in the same place it came from. The only other thing we know is what we see in the parts listings. What the Mark colors mean is not explained anywhere I've seen.
23209-39155-A0 MARK YELLOW
23209-39155-B0 MARK BLACK
23209-39155-C0 MARK BROWN
23209-39155-D0 MARK GREEN
**EDIT** I just did a quick review of all the training manuals where direct injection is discussed, and there is zero help with which injector to use other than replace with the same one you already have.

Might be colour coded depending on the injector batch otherwise I don't know why there are 4 part numbers. We're talking about the same computer using different injectors so they can't be that different just needing to match as a set that's my best guess.

lobux, you might know this for sure.
in any case, swapped all 8 injectors, (remanufactured/cleaned units from GB off rock auto) heard allot of good things about these guys as they reman only Oem injectors.
in any case. Everything assembled back up. Car cranks but no start.
checked all plugs, all good, there’s pressure in fuel lines, so no problems on the pump side.
lirking Around other forums, ppl claim that if cleaned manufactured injectors have bin sitting for more then a week or two, (mine have for sure) they can dry out, and be stuck closed.
anyone ever come across of this? What’s an easy way to check each injector individually if they open or not?
let me pick your brain once again.
so i did get the injector tester/cleaner kit (cheap amazon stuff, but tried on old injectors and it works)
but before pulling whole intake manifold apart and taking apart fuel lines figured I’d check for spark. And what do you know?
(Original issue: crank but no start)
so I’m getting no spark.
abd also my regular scanner can’t communicate with ECU in ignition on mode.
all lights on dash light up. And it even cranks.
fuel pressure is there, I checked.
and start button turns green from orange when I put key next to it before trying to start the car.
scanner Gets U0101 lost communication with TCM

any ideas?
Start with disconnecting and reconnecting the ECM connectors, then the injector driver connectors on top of the engine. If any of the connections are not good, that should at least disturb them and make connections again for the time being. While you are there, inspect the pins on the ECM and TCU for corrosion or damage. That's where I'd start.
If you are buying all 8 injectors, it doesn't matter which colour you buy, just that they're all the same colour. If you are replacing less than 8, make sure you buy the same colour as what you had. The colours are there to match the flowrate of the injectors, similar to select-fit bearing sizing, etc.
Normally the repair manual would probably have the injection volumes for each colour listed, but because the direct injectors are a high pressure type, the repair manual states they cannot be inspected for fuel injection volume.

exactly what I did. Changed all 8 to black grommet types. Reman/cleaned OEM’s from GB on rock auto

does it matter where what pn on the new injectors go because the last 4 pn are different on each injector
