i am able to auto open the trunk from dashboard button...but not be able to close it from there...

scenario: so I have to rush to my wife after she grabs handful of stuff walking away and tell her to close the trunk herself? (she's used to our RX's way of auto trunking), is Lexus trying to end our marriage?

kidding aside, is my auto trunk missing something there?

 

IIRC, north American GS doesn't have the auto-close feature.

 

As far as I know the new GS350 doesn't have an auto trunk feature.

One of the downsides of the fourth generation.

 

The power trunk lid on the LS can only be closed at the trunk lid. The button on the dash only opens it. So I am assuming they did it the same way on the GS (for those markets that are lucky enough to have it).

 

From what I've read, only the US version of 4GS that does not have the power trunk and mirrors option.
If you have the power trunk, it only operate one way from the dash. That is auto open the trunk. You want to close it, you'd have to hit the button on the trunk.

 

um...i am sure when i open the trunk, it open slowly up all the way (just like the way RX opens)...

do you guys have this button?

Why is it not in the US, but it will be for the ES and it was on the previous generation. Doesn't make sense to just not have for a select few.

 

You lucky have that button. US version of 4GS doesn't have it. And we have to slam hard to shut it close. The Ford escape you can even open the trunk with your foot. Cheap & stupid Lexus engineers.

 

not to make you feel even worse, onexcite, my trunk has kind of soft close when you manually push it down low enough...

I still don't get why i can't close the trunk from the dashboard...gotta ask my dealer

 

do you think it's a dealer option that has to be set by the dealer??? just like the window op that has to be set to go down via W/key fob,, but can't put them back up W/key fob,, was told it was a safety issue.

 

I'm thinking the same, on my previous RX the automatic lift gate has to be enabled by dealer.

 

im wondering how much is involved to add this to my GS!

 

good question,,, wondering about the install doesn't seem as though it would be simple,,, then again it might be. wonder if JOE to the Z would know.

 

FYI for those in Canada - I spotted a 4GS F-Sport RWD with DRS in the dealership that had the auto-close button. My 4GS F-Sport AWD doesn't have it...
