Default Need Help. Sport+, what MPH does it shift into 6th?

Long story short. I've been running an ECU/TCU tune for a while, and flashed back to stock. In Sport+ (or Sport Sharp) my transmission stays in 5th gear until about 65 mph, even at light throttle, then shifts into 6th. It's like it is waiting for me to stomp on it again. I can't remember if this is normal, or if the tune I was running has permanently affected the transmission logic, even on the stock tune file. Can someone confirm for me that this is normal behavior for the stock tune? If not, what light throttle MPH will your car shift into 6th in Sport+? My other modes upshift into 6th, 7th, and 8th without issue.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like normal S+ behavior to me!

That's such a relief to hear, thank you. I was afraid I lobotomized my TCU with all the flashing I've done.

I'd like to hear more member experiences, if anyone would care to post.

Thanks again.

No disrespect, but that’s why you test and baseline stock before mods.

Well, I did have just over 5000 miles on it before I started modding, but I'm an old man with a bad memory. What MPH does your car upshift into 6th, roughly?

I've noticed Sport S+ varies with RPM. If I am cruising and put it in S+ mode it will drive normal, even shifting into 8th gear. If I start driving spirited S+ will hold the RPM a lot longer and will no longer shift past 6th gear. I think mine usually holds the RPM around 3,000 if I was driving spirited and then try to cruise. I think if you're turning while driving spirited (like a track) then S+ should hold the gear until redline or until you're off throttle for several seconds.

I haven't had mine very long, but I think mine tries to keep rpms generally above ~2000rpm if in S+ if I'm being chill with the throttle. This morning when I was driving around 60mph in normal and I put it in S+ it stayed in 8th (which suprised me, I expected it to downshift to 6th). My oil had just gotten to temp so I'm assuming that my transmission wasn't quite warm yet. Maybe that's typical behavior, but it's not what I typically experience so I'm blaming transmission temp here... again I've only had the car a couple months though so my experience is limited. Coming to a stop the shift points seemed to be what I would have expected from normal mode. I was stuck in traffic for a bit so by the time I was able to get to speed again I'm assuming transmission was warm. This time shift point into 6th in S+ happened around 57/58mph which is inline with my expectations. That being said, if I drive even a little bit aggressively in S+ I think the shift points change to be more aggressive as well, even downshifting earlier under deceleration. I think the same is true to a lesser extent in normal and sport as well. Also shift points change if I'm on an incline as well.

That is so weird. Mine won't go into 6th on Sport+ until I'm over 60 mph. In Normal and Sport, it will upshift into 8th. Thanks for your input.

I guess that speaks to the overall goal of S+ mode. It's intended more for spirited drives only. Driving around casually in S+ is sort of odd.

If you want the firmer suspension of S+ but a more chill drivetrain calibration, you could set that up in Custom mode.

Do we know what are the programmed settings for Sport? Of course, it is power for the drivetrain, but is it normal or sport for the chassis? If it is the former, then I think I will really like a custom setup of power for drivetrain and sport for chassis, giving a firmer ride but not so aggressive drivetrain like Sport S+.

Most of the time the roads where I drive don't like the Sport+ suspension. I personally prefer the Sport+ gauges. It gives me that LFA vibe.

If you put Chassis in Sport, then it is the same as in Sport S+.

So, if you put the Drivetrain in Sport and Chassis in Sport, it's like having the car's Drivetrain in Sport S mode while having the suspension in Sport S+ mode.

It's interesting how different the behavior seems to be. On the way home from dropping off my kids at school, with the car warmed up, in Sport +, at 50ish on back roads, my car shifts into 8th. This is with very light maintain your speed type throttle.

I'm beginning to think it has a lot to do with overall driving style. I don't show a lot of mercy on my car, regardless of drive mode. I also spend quite a bit of time in manual, with the revs fairly high. I'm thinking the transmission learns who it's dealing with, and over time, adjusts it shift points accordingly.
