Default Quick help pls - perspective on GW vs. MP

Hey folks hoping for a perspective that I don’t have on either of these colors. Have the chance for both and torn.

I’ve been hunting a MP for months but blue has always been “my color.” Half my clothes are blue, etc.

Whats your take?

They're both great, so you can't really go wrong. That said, if you are personally OK with driving around in a bright orange car, I think the MP is way better looking. I assume you've seen both in person, on a sunny day, which is mandatory for making this decision. I bought my MP a couple of months ago, and I love it even more now than at first sight. It's just so "out there," but it looks great with the black wheels and a nice black tint job. My first view of it in person was pretty shocking. I had set an appointment with a salesman at the dealer, and before I arrived he had pulled it out of the showroom and put it out front in the sunlight. It just looked so wild that I knew I was going to buy it that day, which is really rare for me, I usually overthink big decisions. I was somewhat concerned that it was just a bit too garish, but I think the fact that it's a Lexus really counteracts the "Lambo douchebag effect." I mean, we all love the IS500, but most normies just see it as a decent looking Lexus, not appreciating how special it really is. That said, I've been surprised by the level of enthusiasm from others, folks taking pics while in traffic, etc., which I attribute to the MP. The MP seems to hide dirt better than darker colors too, which is nice. I tend to wash my cars about once a year, whether they need it or not, so that's a nice bonus.

^^ thanks for the response, that’s a good take. I feel
like I’d sooner regret passing on the MP than I would the GW.

The orange looks cool, but I think blue is more in line with the concept of the IS500 as a GT car. I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

Right, that’s a good point. The Orange does say more “exotic” than we’d think of for Lexus. Then again, there are Dodge Darts in Orange also.

As others have said, both are nice and will be equally rare/exclusive. I am speculating here but feel the GW may age better. If the GW comes with the darker enkeis, that is the route I would personally go but again, the MP is nice too. I woukd have prefered the MP with different wheels myself.

Grecian Water is a great color in person and would’ve been top of our list but for someone in our neighborhood already having a GW IS300.

Love how the IS500 speaks softly but carries a big stick … not really the case in MP.

interesting! So maybe if I’m thinking more of an unassuming car, then orange is not the way to go! Not sure I’ve ever considered that, thanks for your pov.

GW is nice that different light shines on it gives it different shade and sometimes color, GW looks great w/ dark enkei, MP is awesome as well cuz it just stands out...

If those are really your two top choices, you'd better take whichever becomes available first as you're unlikely to have the opportunity to choose between both. There are only a handful of MP allocations and all but 1 reserved. Only 1 GW allocation, iirc.

Solid advice, thank you. And that’s the crazy thing: as of this morning I did have a choice between an MP or a GW, both at MSRP and both same distance from my location. It was wild.

I chose MP and placed the deposit a couple hours ago—dealer thinks I’ll be in it by end of month. Good thing too, because the GW dealer couldn’t offer near as much for my trade as the MP dealer. I’m getting VIN 3312, which appears to be at the very tail-end of the VINS identified in Reds database.
