Default Structural Blue vs Ultrasonic Mica Blue 2.0

Just wondering if anyone has seen these two colors next to each other in comparison. I've never seen Structural Blue in person but some of the biggest compliments I get on my GSF is the color.

Anyone have one near the NJ area that I could possibly see?

The structural blue is just phenomenal .... purely based on internet viewing/reviews, but wow. It's a shame that only a select number of people will have this, and there is no other basic 'blue' alternative.

Yeah, unfortunately I never got to see it in person. Only one I saw for sale was one in Seattle last year when I was debating between the GSF and LC. It was going for $95k. I don't think they go on sale frequently but I am sure if you search for one you can find one.

I wonder if they made any LC500h's with that color. Or if you could repaint an existing LC with that color? Considering how the paint must be applied, I would think it has to come from the factory that way.

Structural Blue is a very special color. I did see one last year at a Lexus "F" model meet, a 2018 Inspiration Series. As much as I like the color, I would never own an LC with the color. How many body shops, even custom houses, can do this:

https://us.ppgrefinish.com/Training/...Repair-Process

And if they could, how much would it cost

I actually know an owner of a Structural Blue Inspiration Series LC500 here in FL where I live. Funny enough, he's also the owner of one of the most reputable body shops in the city, where the majority of the high end dealerships (including Lexus) send their customer repairs to. He said that they won't provide him with the color code (he hasn't repaired any structural blue LC's - but he was asking for himself) and they're secretive about the structural blue. As you all know, it is a painstakingly long process to produce that color....

Having a car with paint like that would be too dang nerve wracking for me. Damaging the paint would always be on my mind.

Is he looking to sell the car? I've been searching for one for a while but they all seem to be in Florida or Calinfornia. Missed my opportunity in August when there were 4 on the market. Now it's just one that has history of accident.

So I just bought one of these that was in Des Moines. It was a CPO and I paid $76 grand for it with 13000 miles. It is number 33 out of 100 I was told. Before they could ship, it needed some touch up work under the front where it had curb scrapes. They were waiting for paint from Japan and what was left over they had to send back. It was the Lexus dealer that was doing the work. They also put on a clear bra. I have had a paint expert look at the car and he can see no signs of a touch up.
My original color choice was Atomic Silver which is what I have on my RX 350 and I love it. I was talked into the blue by friends and I'm glad they did. I was more worried about the blue and orange interior but after looking at it in person it is a great colot combo. I am in the Florida panhandle so got a light tint done today and it looks great. didn't want to hide the interior!
Second question. Who can afford to own one. I am in the 50 to 60 thou/year range. I'm 76, wife died in Janurary and she told me to go get an LC and enjoy the rest of my life. Great wife, great car. What can I say! By the way, she was wheelchair bound for years and loved the RC.

Wow! Sorry to hear about the wife but glad you got the car that you wanted. Definitely enjoy the car. I ended up going with a Lotus myself because I wanted the stick shift. But there are many days I do imagine what the LC would be like to drive daily. I couldn't find one in structural blue so I never got to see the paint color in person. I will say- Lexus's paint job is top notch and the UBM2.0 blue is still one of my favorite colors. I think the only other blue that wows as much is the Nouvelle Blue I see on the new NSX.

I have a 2018 Structural Blue that I purchased new three years ago. I have seen Ultrasonc Blue 2.0 on the RC350 and on the GSF. You might be surprised to hear this but the Structural Blue is nothing special whatsoever. The UltrasonicBlue 2.0 is amazing and by comparison mine is boring. I don't care how many butterflies it took to make my paint LOL.. Additionally, I only have 15,000 miles on the car and the front bumper is pretty well pitted and there are multiple paint chips in the hood. In my opinion, this paint is more hype than anything else. The lustre is nowhere near as good as my Smoky Granite Mica 2007 SC430 that I had prior and appears less lustrous than the UB 2.0.

My body shop has told me after I asked them for unforeseen future needs, that the paint is readily available and not as complex as one would think.

Buried into the cost of my 2018 Inspiration Series is about $8,000 for this color. That was the price of 1 of 100 but now with the convertible it's the price of 1 of 200 cars for the US.

Wow thanks for this! Pictures don't do UBM2.0 any justice and one of the reasons why I decided to skip the LC was because there were hints of what you said. I don't doubt it's an amazing color but it wouldn't be much better than my GSF or my Midnight Purple wrapped Lotus.

That being said, the paint quality of Lexus is very very impressive and no matter what people say, a wrap doesn't compare to the texture. It also would've been nice to have a "matching" car with my wife who now drives the GSF.

Another color I'm sure is a stunner is the Nori Green Pearl I saw for sale a few times. It looks like an old man's color but it's so unique and I have no doubt Lexus nailed the color balance on that one too.

Great story. Sorry for your loss. This is why I splurged on my Acura NSX and looking at LC as a daily. Life is too short, and you can't take the money with you to the grave.

That's why one of the first things I did when I got my new NSX was clearly put PPF on the car. I did not want the paint to be damaged by rock chips at all.
I've had other sports cars with lots of rock chips and it was good peace of mind to PPF the entire car.

If I were to get a brand new LC I would PPF the entire car. If I get a used one, depending on condition, I may PPF it also.

Yes, that would have been wise for me as well. However, I have owned 20 cars in my life and the bumper on this car is the worst of any car with this low mileage that I've ever owned. The hood is not bad but the bumper is very disappointing.
