Default Why do my tires look like this ?

Folks.

After I got my 2016 IS200T I swapped the rims via dealer (Park Place).
Year of purchase: 2019

Within a year the tires wore out I thought no biggie and replaced em.
They wore out. Replaced em again.

Now I'm on my third set and even after wheel balancing this happened after 14,000.00 miles from third set fresh (third set put on at 65000 and I've attached notes taken by dealer at 65000). Current miles at 69000.

I do not drive aggressively or race my car. I heard some conversations about control arm.

Anyone willing to guess ?

The issue is inner tire wear. This is common on the IS and is fixed by getting new Lower Control Arm (LCA Bushings). You can buy OEM RCF LCA's or you can buy aftermarket ones from RR Racing or FIGS (I've heard better things from FIGS).

From what the dealer wrote, it seems like there could be suspension components that need replacement in order to correct the out-of-spec camber. It seems that excessive camber is causing the inner parts of the tires to wear out prematurely. Maybe try asking the dealer to clarify what they said in plain English?

Just the bushings or the entire LCA? Thanks in advance

The bushings. Unfortunately, it's a common issue. There's an entire thread dedicated to this: LINK

Yes, all my tires have prematurely worn out due to this, thanks for the info.

May I ask what was cost, and did they use different bushings than standard?

Labor and bushings all in came to around $500. Bushing type material details I do not know but it feels much smoother at the moment the wheels turn easier.

The real question is what impact this will have on the tires over the coming 30k miles.

I'm starting to think the bushings needed to be replaced. There's an inherent problem with the 3IS's inner tire wear - that's one thing, but yours was on another level. I think the bushings may have worn out. I'll be interested to see if new ones solve the problem.

Fingers crossed.

I have already made a inspection sheet to observe the tires every 5000 miles. I've tried Michelin Pilot Sports and Dunlop Conquests and now with new Pirellis and entirely new bushings
the answer will shortly come to as to what the problem was.
