Default 2023 Lexus IS?

Did some searching, but nothing is popping up. Do we know anything about the 2023 model year IS? August is usually when there is a break-down on the news. Color changes? Option packages? Hoping for a different interior color option.

We'll likely hear some scoop soon but there are rumors the interior will change to bring the new infotainment, similar to the NX. I personally wonder if that makes sense since they had changed the interior for the 2021 MY and the IS will undergo a FMC within 2-3 years so why bother but who knows. Personally, if they do, it will make me appreciate my 2022 even more because I prefer the current interior but everyone is different. I suspect the 2023 will start arriving at dealers in November but I could be totally off.

For reference, the 22MY was unveiled on September 10, 2022 and first deliveries hit US shores in mid November 2021. I suspect that we will know more at the end of August when Japan gets their full unveil of the 2023 IS500.

Thank you both for your comments. I agree with most. Some years it's been August, other years a bit later. I doubt there will be any big changes, just minor trim or color shuffles. I only ask because my lease is coming up and I may need to place an order.

Has Lexus started taking orders again? All of the dealers I spoke with in June told me that orders had been suspended.

Also I doubt there will be many changes for MY23, as it just went through changes for MY21.

Do we know a future/proper Get 4 is in the works, as we know it? RWD, gas powered, small sedan? With so many sedans being canceled in the market, makes me wonder. Fingers crossed!

I assume you mean Gen 4, rumors are that it would be an all electric platform. But not much info on that yet, should be around 2025.

So that means the 3.5IS runs from model years 2021 - 2025, so 5 full years before it goes EV?

Probably 2021 to 2024 then the new Gen in 2025. But that still all unconfirmed information so we'll have to wait and see!

I've heard previously that there would be a four-year cycle for the IS 500, which implies MY 22-25, unless he meant a four-year production cycle. Or, my guess is the 3.5IS is going to be offered for 4 model years.

Seems like CarBuzz has info stating it will last only till Model Year 2024. https://carbuzz.com/news/the-lexus-5...ists-and-turns

I’ll bet my IS500 the IS will not be electric by 2025. You know how long it takes Toyota to change anything. Lol EV IS in 2025...I needed a good laugh.

^^ I agree that it seems it would be fast given how few other Lexus' have been electrified and even Toyota, only has the BZ4 for now. That being said, the IS has been unchanged (as far as powertrain) for a long time with the exception of the IS 500. While I am not sure the IS would be totally electric for the 4G, I suspect strongly that the 4G will be the start of a significant change - We will likely see the elimination of the V8 and V6 all together. The IS would likely have turbo 4 with some models having electrical motors to bump up the power. When you look at the RX, they dropped the V6 and their RX 500 is a 4 pot with electric motors so I expect the IS will go that route as well. As the 4G moves forward in time, they may introduce a full EV version of it say by the MMC (which would be closer to 2030) but that is what I think but I could be totally off.

That is why I find it hard to believe Lexus would invest in changing the interior of the 2023 IS and introduce the NX infotainment, they are already struggling with production and such, and wouldn't that interface require even more chips, the same chips they can barely put their hands on right now?!? And that also means they would have invested the money for a change in 2022 for 2 years only, only to change it again in 2025 after 2 years (MY 23 & 24). I could be proven wrong but if so, that means either Lexus does something strange or they'll stretch the IS longer and the 4G will not be 2025. We'll see I guess

While I agree that putting the NX infotainment wouldn't make any sense, life has also taught me that Lexus/Toyota don't use common sense. Take the 2023 ES. It is confirmed to have the new infotainment, yet the vehicle was refreshed for the 2022 Model Year. On the long run, while this move may cost Lexus more in R&D they will more than recoup it in subscriptions. Vehicles with the NX infotainment have shorter trials for some services and the main service that gives you access to the nice Google Maps (which to my knowledge there is no longer any native built in navigation in the cars that use this system) costs $16 a month. So lets look at the following:
Until the end of June, Lexus had sold 19,615 of the 2022 NX. This only accounts for sales from January to June. Assuming 100% of those customers convert to paid subscription customers at the end of their trial in 3 years, Lexus stems to gain $3,766,080 in revenue. That is just ONE model in 6 months. When their cash cows ES and RX start pumping out paid subscribers, the numbers will increase exponentially. This is why I find it very likely that they may bring over the new infotainment. Also, briefly touching on the electrification topic, it is very likely they may offer both full electric and a mild hybrid in the 4IS. While a hybrid on the IS is not available in our region, many countries in the Asian region offer the 3.5IS ONLY as a hybrid.

^^ As always, you raise also some really good points - especially about Lexus' logical approach to things! Time will tell I guess, just a couple of months to go

I'm flattered! We should hopefully know for sure at the end of this month when Lexus Japan does the full reveal of the IS500
