Default Time to trade

Hello everyone, I need some feedback on trading my 2014 IS 250 AWD for a 2018 IS 300 RWD, I have little over 103k on the 2014, great condition, no issues, it's been the most reliable car I've owned ( coming from many BMWs)
I would appreciate suggestions and opinions please.

Thank you all in advance.

If you can swing it and it's what you really want, do it. But if your car is reliable and keeping you happy, better the evil you know than the one you don't know kind of thing. You won't truly know the condition and exact maintenance (or lack thereof) of another used car.

^Agreed 100%. I wouldn't trade just for the sake of owning a newer year. 4 years isn't even much different. Lexus is not like BMW where you have to "stay ahead" of looming repairs by replacing vehicles every 3-4 years. Now if you were to upgrade to a IS 350 or something I'd understand.

A bit late on this for the OP question but the mileage over 100K has an effect on
the valuation. Even (or especially) in these hyper-charged car price days the miles
over 100K limit the financing options. When you or a dealer go to sell the car one
of the elements in obtaining financing are the miles. Banks don't want the title to
the high mile car as collateral and decline or condition the loan. Buyers of the car
can certainly go for home equity loans or other methods but it does limit the choices.

Besides the non-automotive thoughts shown above, the purely mechanical advice is - Go For It!
The 2014 2.5L V6 has only 204 HP & 185 lbs/ft of torque @ 4800 RPM + it weighs 3800 lbs.!
The 2018 2.0L Turbo has 241 HP & 258 lbs/ft or torque @ 1650 RPM + it weighs 3583 lbs.

actually market for 2014-2015 is250/350 is good... if you are buying. For some reason it is the only make/model/year that dropped to pre-pandemic levels. Everything else is 30-40% up...

The 300 RWD will be fine, but I agree the 350 is probably worth the money. If you are going to upgrade, I would suggest it especially if you're going RWD anyway. Having said that, there is a price difference, which you can't ignore. I would mention the MPG difference, but in my experience, the 350 RWD is much better on gas compared to a 300 AWD or 350 AWD at least.

yes, there is a price difference for sure. many on the forum are very quick to dismiss anything but the 350 but people have to also realize that everyone's financial situations are different and that what may be affordable for one may not be affordable to another given the cost to repair, maintain, run, insure, etc. look at that college kid who posted the other week who wound up with a much better option for his particular situation, a new honda civic.

like, yeah, the 350 is great, but when i purchased my 300rwd not too long ago used, the market dictated what i felt was the best financial choice for me. so, to anyone reading this who is a prospective owner and for whatever reason can't comfortably pay the 350 tax, then the 300rwd is a reliable, attractive, and comfortable car. if you're expecting something quick, however, neither the 350 nor the 300rwd really compete well against their peers in this area, but the 350 competes better.

Sorry for the late response, I appreciate all the feedback you guys have provided.
You are all right in your views and the IS 350 is one car I always wanted to have but like some of you said, the price is something to take into consideration, I can also keep the car as it is almost paid for and wait for things to go bad.
I have some thinking to do, I really appreciate all the help and suggestions,
