Default Alarm Goes Off When Closing Trunk

I'm having this issue whenever I close my trunk with my car locked, there is a chance that the alarm will go off.

This has been occurring for over a year now and what I've been doing is making sure my car is unlocked before closing the trunk.

Anyone know what maybe the issue and how I can resolve this? I have changed the car battery so I don't think that is the cause. I have a Canadian 2014 IS 350 with no mods that involves tapping into wiring or connections to the battery.

I sometimes get a solid beep from the alarm after closing the trunk. Sometimes quick, sometimes it lasts for five seconds. Rarely happens though, and my 2IS did the exact same thing. I've never been able to replicate it at a dealer, so I've just lived with it. Strange.

What kind of alarm? A long continuous tone, or the actual panic alarm where the car flashes and honks and stuff?

This would be a full on panic alarm.

Very startling when it catches you off guard.

Did you ever find a solution for this? My 2014 IS350 is doing the same thing.

Unfortunately no. I just make sure to unlock my car before closing the trunk.

Mine (2023) just did it again yesterday, after I loaded up the trunk with grocery bags. It seems anytime I have anything sticking up a little in there, the solid beep goes off when I close it. Of the three IS's I've owned, each one has done the same exact thing at the same exact time. Load up the truck with items that stick up a bit, and I get the solid beep. Strange. Maybe it's a built-in nanny letting you know you put stuff in there (?).

Try checking the trunk wires, located on the driver side of the trunk pull back the carpet trim and look for any spliced wires. Also look at the trunk light does it flicker or disconnects depending on how high the trunk is?
Happened on my 2015 IS as well.
