Default Ceramic Coating

This is just a little teaser for anyone wanting a ceramic coating. I did 1 base layer of Gtechniq crystal syrum lite and a top coat of Gtechniq Exo v4.

I literally drove home in the rain today and this is what my car looked like as I pulled into the garage.

it was the easier ceramic I've ever done, too. Strongly recommend a ceramic coating!

I have a single layer 2 year ceramic, installed by my expert detailer (paint correction specialist). It works great, but the key is maintaining it. My hood and roof wear first and needs periodic maintenance

I've used Adam's and Carpro and they both have a "ceramic boost" spray that is supposed to prolong the coating. The Gtechniq does not, that I know of. The Exo top coat will last 12-18 months so I will just reapply it yearly as my maintenance. It's so easy to apply I won't mind the yearly coating. That is the only maintenance I will do.

Oddly enough, I spray the ceramic boost on the RX hood, but skip the doors a lot of times and the hood coating is still working great. The doors are starting to slightly lose their hydrophobic properties after 2 years. I will just spray the boost a little more frequently on them for now. I think we might do a PPF on the front of the RX then I will recoat it with Gtechniq.

Proper wash technique with ceramic friendly soap (It should SAY ceramic safe). Every 1-2 months use ceramic boost. Every 6 months use iron remover spray decontamination wash, car wash, and then boost after wash.

It doesn’t have to say ceramic friendly; just be aware of the manufacturers PH range. PH neutral is generally what you should look out for when it comes to soaps. Decon soaps usually range from 9+ ph containing high alkalinity to strip the surface of dirt, debris, etc. This can cause harm to your coating (depending on your coating durability as all are different).

The big favourites in the pro detailing market right now are Carpro Reset and Koch Chemie Gentle Snow Foam.

At a minimum wash every two weeks. I have Carpro Profressional Ceramic coating and wash weekly because it’s just that much quicker and easier washing a vehicle with a coating. Highly recommend!
