I am sure most of you will or have seen this story on MT but interesting how they are pushing toward some changes at Lexus:
1. No more Lexus logo on the rear on ALL vehicles
2. Pushing toward an implementation of the new infotainment in the next 30 months
3. Making more market-specific vehicles (I guess the IS 500 is an example too)
I for one,do not like the trend of all touch screen for everything so I find the IS balances the touchscreen and real functioning ***** quite well. Look at how the new Golf GTI and R are being criticized over their lack of physical buttons. Also, will be interesting to see how they'll incorporate LEXUS on the rear of the IS and other sedans. I kind of like the worded brand on SUV but not sure I will like it on the cars. I doubt, at least that is my opinion, that they will change the infotainment on the IS until the next FMC in 2024 - That would require too much change on the interior design for a car that is about to get overhauled, but I could be wrong....
I don't think they would put a giant LEXUS on the 3IS, probably the next gen (4IS) after a redesign? New infotainment will probably be incorporated in 4IS as well.
^^ I agree with the infotainment - It will still be interesting how they integrate the brand names on a sedan without being weird looking. I find Hyundai's Elantra and Sonata looks weird on the trunk but looks OK on SUVs - Just interesting read and thought I would share

I hope Lexus takes note that despite the automotive trends of implementing everything into the screen, most users actually prefer to have certain things remain accessible via physical buttons. Please don't follow Tesla's minimalistic interior design. I can't stand that approach to car interiors.
The rear badging for the sedans and coupes should be smaller than what appears on the back of the new NX. Found this example that someone in Japan did to their GS F:
The 'L E X U S' lettering reminds me of what Genesis, Hyundai, Lincoln and those low tier brands are doing. The Lexus logo is clean, getting rid of it is a huge design mistake in my opinion
That new infotainment, while very nice, is a MAJOR cash grab for Lexus. To really use it to its full potential, the digital key and the cloud navigation which they brag about so much, is $16 a month, with no yearly option that would bet you a discount. That’s in addition to the $8 for safety connect and remote connect. It’s crazy.

I can see that but also it is overdue. I put off buying my IS until they had something modern with apple car play.
There are STILL new Lexus models with the 1990s infotainment. I got a brand new GX for a loaner and I almost had to call my anthropologist friend to help me use the nav. Nope - won’t be buying that one either until they make some upgrades.
If you buy a car based on the infotainment system you're approaching cars all wrong, sorry. The 3.5 IS interior is nearly perfect the way it is. All they need to do is ditch the piano gloss black trim and trackpad, add a wireless phone charger and a heads up display.
The L E X U S lettering is another pointless trend. I truly think the IS500 in its current form is going to be a classic.
