Default Lock Actuator problems 2 months after replacement

Hi

I'm new here. Decided to take the plunge and buy a used is (2014) and as the title says, I'm having lock issues. I know this has been discussed at great length and I've been searching and have learned a lot but i would like some more insight if possible.
i just bought this car from a Lexus dealer (122kms)
Always been a Toyota fan. Always wanted a Lexus. Oddly enough I had my eye on getting a BMW. But i care heavily about reliability so i went for the Lexus. The day i bought it, the dealer checked it over one last time and found a locking problem. They ordered the parts assured me of a free fix and I went on my merry way. Parts came in, they replaced all the actuators and true to their word, didn't cost me a dīme. That was 2 months ago. Now I'm having the same issue with the locks. Specifically the front passengers it seems.
Any insight on how this could happen 2 months after having all new actuators installed?
Naturally you can imagine my frustration, having bought a Lexus for reliability.
Anyway enough of my ranting, any insight would be greatly appreciated
ps. I haven't contacted the dealer yet as they are closed for the night. Thought I'd ask if there's anything I should know first

Welcome to the forum! And fellow Canuck too!

Maybe a couple questions for you that may help us provide better info.

What was the original locking issue you had when you went to get the car?
What is the issue now?
Did they provide you an invoice for the repair? Even though they didn't charge you, you should still get an invoice so you know what was done. This will indicate if they changed all the actuators and the relevant part numbers.
I'm not suggesting the dealer has done anything wrong, simply that the actuator failing after 2 months is very unlikely considering the original one last 7+ years.

The original issue was that the doors wouldn't lock with the fob i believe so we locked them from the button on the door but then it wouldn't unlock. it would just beep over and over unless we went to the front passengers door which would unlock or possibly not have locked. I'm not really sure on that one. I didn't pay much attention because they said they would fix it by replacing all the actuators.
the other day i noticed that there was no beep when i locked it which got me skeptical but then it seemed to be working. Last night when i unlocked it (either by fob or with handle sensor) it would beep over and over and eventually unlock. so i started testing and noticed the front passengers door wasn't locking. Now that i think about it, it seems to possibly be the same door
anyway they did give me an invoice. I only looked at it to make sure i saw actuators and a $0.00 at the end. Now that I look at it again it looks like they only replaced 3
"Tech Comments: 3 door lock actuators not working"
"left front left rear and right door lock actuators not working Lexus general repair #3"

So i guess they only replaced 3 and the one they didn't has decided to fail? Which from what I've researched, once one fails they all go right after. Shouldn't the dealer know that? lol
Also, i guess i should have looked at the invoice before posting. Sorry about that.
Anything to add before I call them to see if they'll replace the 4th? (though I'm doubtful)

And thanks Sasnuke! (:

Ok...so we know they changed 3 actuators. I wonder if they took the operation of the front passenger actuator as good and replaced the other 3...when in fact it was the faulty one, causing the rest to malfunction.
Did they include the part numbers? I noted they said "right door", but not if it was the front or back. The part numbers will tell you which one it was as the part number for each door is different.

I would call them and say the issue that occurred at delivery is still occurring...and it was to be fixed as per the invoice, but still remains.
They reality is they didn't replace the faulty part...from the sounds of it.

I'm pretty sure when the dealership does a service which fixes something faulty with your car, in this case the door actuators, you have a 1 year warranty on the part, that's usually if you pay for it / under warranty, your situation seems a bit different since you reported it BEFORE taking the car so there may not be a record of that. If they gave you an invoice / service paper that they fixed it, then you should be good. Regardless, take it back to them, 2 months is a good span of time to report the issue.

My drivers side door lock stopped working this weekend. All the same symptoms as the OP: the fob engages the other three doors with both lock and unlock, however the driver side door does not respond. The door lock/unlock button by the window switches on the driver side door only operates the three passenger doors. I have to use the key within the fob to manually lock or unlock the door, or physically work the lock switch next to the door handle.

i’m going to try to replace the actuator myself, it should be pretty easy considering how easy it is to take apart the interior on our cars

Hi Guru (aka Sasnuke),

can you confirm this is the correct part? I’m going to place an order and replace it myself. I need the door lock actuator for the front driver’s side door 2015 IS350 f sport.

Thanks!

Hey @ScytheDC ,
The part number you have in the pic is for the Convertible 2-door IS.
Here is the part for your vehicle: 69040-53130

You can confirm here: https://parts.longolexus.com/oem-par...Y2LWdhcw%3D%3D

For RockAuto you can use the SHEE-MAR SM2508, or for a few dollars more I would recommend the AISIN DLT119.

There's also the OEM part from Megazip for double the price of the AISIN: https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dl...?q=69040-53130

Update:
I haven’t ordered the actuator yet been putting that off. BUT, the lock actuator in the car suddenly started worked just right now! I’m sitting in my car and I pushed the door lock button. And *click* the door locks! I get out the car to see if I can lock it with the fob and it works this way too! The only thing different between now and when the problem started is the temp outside is 80 deg vs in the 50s and 60s. We’ll see how long this lasts, but I’m still planning to replace the actuator.

Hello, new owner of a 14 IS 350 F Sport and running into the same issue. Just curious if the OP has any updates from the original issue?
