I have personally experienced failures with Samsung SD cards so I’ve stuck with using Sandisk so I can vouch for the High Endurance microSD card that I use. They also have a Max Endurance card that even comes with a 10+ year warranty

Question. Were they directly from Samsung? There is a lot of counterfeit Samsung cards out on the market. I always recommend if buying them on amazon, make sure it states shipped/sold by amazon.

Thanks Bud for the valuable micro chip tip, would that be a 64GB ?
BTW Thanks for sharing the video.

Gotchu! I opted for the highest storage possible on the pro endurance which is 128 gb. Not sure why they haven’t released a 256 gb or 500 gb yet.

Also make sure to purchased them from a samsung authorized dealer as mentioned above. Too many counterfeits.

Another tip I learned over the years is to check your microSD card time to time — to see if they’re even recording; my friend was involved in an accident this one time and when he got home the microSD card failed to record the accident.

One thing to note, on other models you have to reinstall the factory top cover portion, but for some reason on the IS they include specific to the new housing. The housing in general is probably 1cm longer than the oem one, so it sticks out ever so slightly from the black marking on the windshield. Definitely not enough to be noticeable or an issue. The video quality is pretty good, though I will say I am skeptical of the whole 4k functionality, and that appears to have been disproved in other threads. Audio recording needs to be turned on in the app, but its definitely not top tier audio. Personally I don't mind it since my focus isn't to record audio, but rather video. Despite the 4k concern, I'd say the quality of the camera is great and it is also great in the night time. The only issue I experienced with it was with downloading videos on the app, but one suggestion I found on reddit, and later in the user manual as well, was to disable cellular data on your phone or go into airplane mode, and then connect to the camera. After doing that, downloading videos no longer failed.
How's the fitcamx holding up still?

That's great to hear. I should definitely go with the Fitcamx over the factory Lexus one right? I've no idea how the quality on the Lexus one is but I do know it's $500 eeeek.
Do you recommend switching out the SD card on the Fitcamx to something else with better reliability, if so which one? Sorry for all the questions I'm a complete noob with dashcams as this will be my first on any car.

Dude you got nothing to be sorry about. That’s what we are here for! Yes I swapped it out immediately for a Sandisk High Endurance 64gb because I did not trust a no name Chinese sd card. Don’t go more than 64gb because it can mess up viewing on the phone. You’ll see fine on a computer but the app functionality breaks a little. Get basically any High Endurance Sd card. I like buying sd cards on BestBuy because Amazon is riddled with fakes
if you have any questions, even not on this, pm me or post away!

Thank you! I appreciate your genuine advice and feedback a lot. Did you opt for the 4k version and do you recommend buying directly from the fitcamx website? Any tips or advice for when it comes time to installing it? I'll be putting it on a 2023 IS 350 so I'm guessing fit and aesthetics should be great? I'll take your advice on switching to the 64gb size, it's a bummer anything bigger was messing with the functionality but is 64gb plenty? Does the dashcam overwrite itself so that memory shortage isn't an issue? Does the cam record when the car is parked when anything impacts or is it only recording when the car is turned on?
Btw I'm a bit envious you have the handling package :]. Stunning car you have.

Thank you! That’s my baby!
yeah I went for the 4K version which only records in the front. If you want to get the rear camera as well (which I don’t recommend if you have a rear sunshade), then the front is limited at 2K and the rear at 1080p. Honestly the install is really easy. What I found works best is getting the mirror out of the way so rotate the mirror such that the long dimension is basically running from the front of the car to the back of the car. Then it’s easier to work in that area. I also suggest trying to tuck the wiring hardness in the right area of the house. One user tucked it on the left and he reported smelling burnt plastic which was likely be wise of the heater in the PCS camera. 64gb is more than enough. It gives me about 3-4 hours of recording at 4K with audio. And yes it overwrites itself although I’ve gotten in the habit of formatting the sd card every month just cuz. By default it does not record when the car is off but the Amazon listing claims thag they sell a cable that lets you do it. I personally haven’t used it but you can check it out. I would buy off Amazon because you have purchase protection that way and get the 3 year warranty just in case

Great tips! thank you! I won't have the rear sunshade on mine but am weary of having to run the wire to the rear and install a rear camera... Would you say I should still get the rear? It would obviously be a lifesaver having it in the event of getting rear ended but besides that I would guess a rear camera isn't crucial? Also when you say I should tuck the wiring in the right side area, do you mean the right side when sitting in the car, so tuck the wires towards the passenger seat side?

It all depends. I live in a state where we don’t have front plates so if I get rear ended and the person runs I still don’t have a plate even if I have a camera. So I didn’t bother. And yes, in the passenger side basically

I got one of those Old Shark cheapy ones off Amazon. Plugged into the arm rest cig lighter, threaded down under the floor mat, tucked under a-pillar trim and roof trim. No mods needed. Works flawlessly with no wires showing. Paid $68.
It's down to $45 It's down to $45

So I was about to pull the trigger on Amazon today for the dashcamx for my 2023 IS 350 but I saw this on the amazon page. *DOESN'T FIT 2023 Lexus IS, Not on the market yet!
Are there differences in the shape or function of that mirror area on the 2023 vs 2022?

Is that in the product description or are you using the Amazon compatibility tool? If it’s the Amazon tool pull the trigger. It’s the same thing
