So on 8-23-21, I contact my Lexus dealership about the new IS350. I wanted a specific combo which was white with red interior. They had one coming in on 9-7-21 but it was already pre-sold, so he said they had another one coming in on 10-6-21 and I could have that one. I received a call from the Sales Director today and he said Lexus cancelled all 26 of their orders due to chip shortages and they will not receive any more IS's until late October possibly November. I am bummed! They have 8 in inventory but they are all Atomic Silver which I am not fond of at all. He stated he will reach out to the the person that is wanting the pre-sold one that is coming on 9-7-21 and see if they still want it. Fingers crossed!
Got curious with the numbers and it's insane what just a body refresh will do, 18,000+ IS's sold this year (still have 4 more months to go) versus last year total 13.6K: https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/lexus-is-sales-figures/
We have a white/red IS350 RWD we got back on Feb 27 this year. Wanted an Atomic Silver with white and none to be found. Chip shortages have been going on for a while now. It sucks! Nobody around our town has any new cars hardly.

I was going to purchase a white with white interior but they sold that just as soon as they got it in. I waited too long to get back with the sales director. He told me that their are only 9 white with red interior available in the whole United States. He said 2 of those are in Florida.

Yeah, It's crazy! I read somewhere where it was the fastest selling car in America right now. Not sure if that is true or not.

Honestly, I feel like I'd pump the brakes on buying a new car at the moment. As mentioned, the chip shortages are driving prices up for everything. Back in 2017, I got my car 2 years old with 10K miles for $30K. Pretty sure the car new was pushing almost $50K. It's the same car as the generation before, you're literally getting taxed for the Apple Carplay and the new body. Not only that, it's tough for you to even get the color you want so I feel like the dealership might take advantage of buyers really wanting the car atm

My dad's is best friends with the owner of this Lexus dealership, so the deal I'm getting is amazing. Significantly below MSRP.
What if he’s stonewalling you so he doesn’t have to give you this deal. Now this just got interesting. LOL
Not sure what friends you have but real friends don't do this. But on a happy note, I got a call from my dads FRIEND, the buyer has backed out of the deal and I will be able to get the one coming on September 7th. I am so excited. Everything worked out! I will upload pictures once car is delivered.
