Lexus Customer Support Program Letter regarding A/C Servo Motors
It seems Lexus is finally taking ownership of the troublesome A/C servo motors. I have issues 2x with stuck & inconsistent air temps- hoping they replace them.
I have no received anything in the mail, but this is good news. Although I just hope they have a replacement part that actually fixes the problem because I know I'm not the only one who's gone in for repair under the new car warranty and the problem persists.
Hope they do this globally. My 3IS MY2015 in Hong Kong has this problem. Been putting off fixing it as Lexus wants to charge equivalent to USD3,900 to replace all the servos.
Wow, that's great that they are acknowledging it. Mine does it once a year, usually the first time I use the heater/defroster after summer I've noticed. Piping hot air on one side, ice cold air on the other. Always fixes itself after turning off the car and back on, but would love to have this fix.
Im in Toronto and literally started hearing the servo motor noise yesterday, would this apply to me too?
It's likely the support program goes back to 2014, the start of the 3IS.
The letter above is for a 2015 vehicle, so I think it's safe to assume that every 3IS is covered right now under the Primary coverage until January 12, 2022.
On January 13, 2022 the coverage drops to 7 years or 200,000kms from date of registration...so this would eliminate 2014's and 2015's from coverage.
Just a note to mention the letter doesn't state anything about servo noise being a symptom that is covered...it's the functioning of the servo motor.
The dealer will reprogram the A/C Amplifier (basically the ECU) and replace any servos that are not functioning properly...noise is a completely different issue.
The dealer may still be willing to cover a noisy motor under this program though.

Awesome thanks for the reply, I have to go in for some other stuff soon, gonna let them know about all this!
I just got this letter what issue is this supposed to fix? I do have an issue since I've had the car where when I get back to car after a drive air would be blowing hot air no matter what temp outside, but this isn't with AC running just air. Not sure it's same thing.
I have completed 80K service at the dealer and they have informed me that 3 motors out of the 9 are found faulty and need to be replaced.
My Warranty expired 30-MAY-2021
they asked for a huge price and since it's a common issue I need someone to tell me what to do?

Welcome to the forum!
First, the HVAC system doesn't have 9 servo motors, so I'm not quite sure where they got that number from.
Secondly, are you having an issue with the HAVC system?
And last, did you ask them to inquire about the recall that is currently rolling out? As this would cover the repair at no cost to you.
