Hey is crew, I currently drive a rc in usb and have been wanting to get my wife an is. We are currently 6k negative equity but the dealer has offered a deal. Wanted to see what the group thought. Zero out of pocket 7500 miles a year. Taking my negative, making the payment 517 on a 48 month lease....

thoughts?

High payment for a relatively long time on an outdated base model IS IMO. If anything, I’d wait a couple of months for the 2021 model year IS if you want to lease a new car. Alternatively, I’d look to finance an older CPO IS

For reference sake, the local lease deal for SoCal right now is $4000 down, $299/mo, 10k miles/year, on a base IS300 with no options. All numbers are without tax.

The payment is on the high end...But that is zero down and 6K negative equity on the trade accounted for. IMO since your already negative on the RC, I would look at a CPO IS instead of leasing a brand new one as PNGO already suggested. An 2018 IS is identical to a 2020.

Seems really high to me. I leased a 2020 Fsport in January. 36 months with 15,000 mile a year allowance. Zero down and Zero drive-offs. Just the remaining 35 payments of $460/month.

IDK.

Seems like a lot to pay over 4 years to only get a total of 30,000 miles. Even if you back out the negative equity you are still paying $19,000 on a car you can probably talk down to $32,000 and own. I remember my second lease was a 2017 base. 3 year/15,000 miles per year. My payments were $420 with zero down and zero drive offs. Cost me $14,700 (35×420) to drive 45,000 miles.

If you take that to LeaseHackr forums, they'll laugh you out. Just keep the RC.

Also is that payment before or after tax? Seems the payment either way (negative equity aside) is actually $392 a month.

Payment should be closer to 340ish including tax, 36 months, 10k miles, 0 drive off to be considered in the good range. (without factoring in the negative equity spread out x # of months)

I agree. Keep the RC. Atleast wait for the newer design if you really want the IS. They practically giving away the remaining 2020's as they soon to be outdated...

Buy CPO. You're taking a double loss on that deal. But considering some are paying high 400s, not horrible in that sense considering you have the $6k negative equity to make up. Thats $125 a month.

that’s what I was thinking as well. Her car isn’t in the best running shape and they gave me a decent appraisal on it. Might hold out till end of year and see what’s left on stock for a better deal
