Which year of Q50 did you try? I tried the 2019 Q50 with 10k miles, and honestly, I was pretty impressed. Tranny is not bad at all in the car I tried, shifts way faster than the IS350 I test drove. Originally Posted by EZZ

At its limit, it understeers like crazy but its still better than the Q50. Why are you getting another sports sedan if you have the S4? The S4 would spank both pretty badly.
I have a B8.5 S4, and about 8 months warranty left, hence why I am probably looking to trade it off. Reliability is a big issue (even though the 3.0T is considered to be one of those "solid platforms" audi makes), there are way too MANY failure points and reliability problems: DSG, cats getting clogged, water pump leaks, thermostat failures, PCV failures, carbon cleaning mandatory every 30-50K miles, intercooler cores leaking, and the list goes on. I can do almost 90% of mechanical work on these cars, besides maybe a full blown engine or DSG rebuild, and still can do a lot of engine-related work, but am fed up after owning audis for 15 years.
The V6 3.0T engine in itself is very solid engine TBH, but when its coupled with problematic accessories and other bad components, it makes the whole car not so reliable and a turn off.

I tried a 2018 IS350, and a 2019 Q50, and to be completely unbiased, the interior of the Q50 is ages ahead of the IS350, the engine feels way smoother and more fun to drive, the tranny is also way faster. The only thing is, the IS is probably a lot more reliable in every aspect I mentioned. Originally Posted by TDawgGDI

Then, I stumbled on an IS 350 F-Sport. The second I got in, I knew I needed it, and bought it the same day.

Yours is newer than the one I drove so I guess they've improved it. Infiniti isn't all that unreliable but it's no Lexus. If you keep up with maintenance Infinit isn't so bad. I say get what you like. I bet the Kia stinger will be just as reliable and drive better though.

There are so few Stingers and G70s that there is probably 0 used parts on the market, so you will be buying 100% of the time brand new parts from the dealers. Originally Posted by EZZ

At least with the IS350, Q50 (and even the S4), there is quiet a lot more used parts around. Something to keep in mind

And what a car for the price. The infotainment I find way more modern and easier to use than the Lexus, but the car drives a lot faster (even though it was rated 300hp), thanks to the twin Turbos and a snappy engine.
The Is350 stock feels like a 260 hp engine, while the q50 feels like a 330hp engine, if I dare to put it that way.
So now am trying to decide between the two. I honestly don't know how reliable the 2017/2018/2919 q50 is, and reliability is one of my top priorities right now after owning German cars for 15 years. Lexus excels in that department, but the outdated interior and how slower the engine feels, makes me have second thoughts
Any ideas, opinions, or suggestions for other Japanese and reliable vehicles are most welcome. My criteria is 300+ hp, awd, nice exterior looks, and reliability.
That infinity will be trouble down the road. Nissan shoddy engineering with a twin turbo setup is a recipe for disaster also u seem like u drive the cars hard would you really trust a Nissan Tranny?Originally Posted by Waffles17

The tranny is pretty reliable up to 550hp...i think anything higher has had issues on the Red Sport. Its the old JATCO unit and its always been robust as it was used in the V8. I'd worry more about the turbos as they are much newer but remember, this company also makes the GTR which has proven to be a reliable drivetrain. I say if you want speed, then get the Q50 but I think the Lexus does everything else better.Originally Posted by Maxitor

Ya the Turbos are a weak point, but it would be a weak point in pretty much any turbo car in some extent. Originally Posted by EZZ

The 200T from Lexus I believe has a turbo, how reliable are they?
But again, it all depends which turbo brand they put, how much boost it pumps, and how much max Rpm it spins.

The 200T (or 300 now) is very reliable but much lower output at 240hp. Its not fast at all but probably one of the most reliable 2L turbos in the class. It feels to me that your head says 350 but heart says Q50. You've test driven both cars and if the Q50 speaks to you, then get it. The car you get is the one you should be passionate about. Whenever I get bored of a car, I just get a different one because it a big toy and I'm an enthusiast Originally Posted by Waffles17

I stand to be corrected, but the IS300 is actually a V6, same engine as the Is350, just detuned from factory. The 200T is the turbo variant, am not sure if it's still in production though. Originally Posted by EZZ

Yes exactly, am 60% for the Lexus, and 40% for the q50, but that can change anytime...
I think if I bump the Is350 to 330sh hp (headers, tune and air filter) I think it might do it for me.

The IS300 AWD is the detuned V6. There is an IS300 RWD which is the 2L turbo. I think the only issue with the tune with headers is that it won't pass California emissions...but outside of Cali, go for it.Originally Posted by Waffles17

I'd get a 350. AVS is not a gimmick - it actually does help with body roll. Not to mention the 8-speed is a bit sharper than the 6-speed. Having said that, the 300 AWD wouldn't exactly be a penalty box if you need AWD, plus the tune would wake it up.

Am honestly not a fan of kia or huyndai as a brand generally speaking. And I don't know how reliable they are versus infiniti. I might try the g70 just to have an idea. Anyone has an idea how reliable are they?
I did some research, and like someone mentioned already the q50 had turbo and belt issues on previous models. Is it still the case with the 2017+ models is still unclear.
I bought a Hyundai SUV with "Toyota/Lexus or nothing" approach to my search. I got on the forums and did my 3rd party review searching. They are solid. This past several years especially. Originally Posted by Waffles17

Kind-of too new to earn the brand recognition like Toyota or Honda or Mazda has but they are believed by many to be in that segment of reliability.
The genesis is so nice

Oh and I would pass on the Infinity. Nissan is going downhill. No company doing well merges with Fiat.
Besides how it looks on paper, without being in a Q50 I can tell you the overall build quality won't be there. They love plastic.

I remember being at the 2016 or 2017 Detroit Autoshow and checking out a then brand new Infiniti Q60. Exterior looked great in person, and I remember staring at it for awhile. However, as soon as I sat inside I couldn't help but feel... disappointed.Originally Posted by HOMER350

I test drove a Q50 back in 2015 and while the car ran great the interior felt extremely sterile. You are spot on about the appearance of lots of plastic. Very happy I bought my ISOriginally Posted by HOMER350
