I finally got it working but man they need better instructions for this. This important part wasn’t even on instruction in the box and it takes jaws of life to remove these black connectors.

I already have a huge problem with this unit especially if you have joystick control. When I push up to go up to select CarPlay icons it doesn’t do anything. I had to push left to go up. Wtf? I wish someone had mentioned this earlier it’s a pita to use.

 

Congratulations on figuring it out! It's weird no one else mentioned the joystick issue you're having. How does everything work on it besides that?

top left is move back and top right is next button

 

I need to put the trims back together and test it more. Wireless CarPlay works but there’s a big lag when I move the joystick but it’s really annoying I can’t navigate where I want the icons to highlight. Is anyone else having the same issue be it touch pad or joystick?

 

You have joystick or touch pad? This control is so counterintuitive I don’t think real CarPlay works like this. I went into system setting I spent like 15 min trying change something i couldn’t do it at all control is so bad.
looks like I wasn’t the only one with joystick issue there’s a FW update that should improve it but it’s worth it to read this long thread in GS forum. So far customer support isn’t that great with China and while I was playing with CarPlay it already crashed once.

Firmware in my box is higher than the one in GS forum but I rolled back firmware to see if joystick improves and it did a little but it’s excruciating to use it in CarPlay. Joystick is a lot worse in Carlinkit setting menu I literally spent 15 min just trying to navigate setting to update firmware. This thing is unfinished product they should not be selling. I got so disappointed I unplugged all the wires it’s going back for refund.

I guess​ it depends on the year & model of your car,i working perfectly fine with my car 2017 IS300 with 10.2 screen.

 

I'd like to hear more peoples' impressions who installed it and have had it for awhile. Can folks please chime in?

 

I went back to check connections especially the black connectors that select split screen no split screen tried many combinations it didn’t work. When the joystick works it was controlling both CarPlay and Lexus at the same time. I didn’t know what was going when I selected something in CarPlay I was changing radio station in Lexus system. What a mess with this kit. Maybe I was unlucky with carlinkit this is second time I bought, first time they sent me wrong harness.

I will probably end up getting Grom Vline2 US product it’s double the cost but these kits from China are not worth it. If it works then I guess you must have right model yr that works well.

 

Gotcha, can you do this thread a solid and record a video of the interface? I think what everyone wants to see are before pulling the trigger are:

1. Function/Smoothness of the User Interface
2. Joystick/Steering wheel integration working with the User Interface
3. Music quality with CarPlay

 

Also, did you purchase from Roadtop or Carlinkit? I know they're supposedly the same unit, but maybe people have had better luck with
one of these stores.
