EDIT: Just got a response from GROM on the VLINE2. They indicated that support for 2017 IS with Navigation will be coming in a few weeks. They are just waiting for a new wiring harness.

Does the Waze navigation audio come on while you're playing a music? When I tested mine I can hear Waze audio but once I started playing music I don't hear Waze anymore.
I purchased the Roadtop version for my 2015 IS with the joystick. The install wasn't too bad. I tucked the unit behind the glove box. It's a little buggy when it comes to moving around on the icons but as soon as I plug the usb into my iPhone carplay comes up. It also works the same over wifi as well. Boot up is very quick. The main reason I wanted carplay was because of maps and the nice interface over stock. I'm pretty satisfied with it for $270. I didn't expect it to be perfect but I hope they can come out with firmware updates to solve some of these little issues with the joystick down the road.

I haven't had a chance to test Waze out with the navigation audio as I normally have it muted. I will try this afternoon and let you know.

I tested Waze navigation audio with music playing and it worked normally. It lowered the music down when the navigation was speaking and raised the music back where it was after.

Thanks for the update. Are you able to select app icons in CarPlay with up down in joystick? I know you can also use rocker page up down buttons joystick only works left and right.

The up, down, and left is a little buggy sometimes. Right always works and left works most of the time.
Sometimes scrolling left, up, and down doesn't always work. But right always works and left movements work most of the time.
Thanks for uploading those videos! Wow, it seems pretty smooth and legit. I was worried it was going to be very buggy and laggy, kind of like the stock infotainment system. I'm highlyyyy considering doing this mod now. I have the regular "clock-****" to control my infotainment system, so hopefully that one works better than the joy stick.
