Wheel Sizes
Hey everyone I’m looking to get aftermarket wheels on my 2014 Lexus IS 350 rwd. I wanted to know if getting wider wheels will fit on my current size tires. I currently have 225/40/18 on the front and 255/35/18 on the rear with stock rims. The front rims are 8 inches wide and 8.5 in the rear.
If I get rims that are 9.5 inches wide in the rear would it cause any fitment issues with my tires?

If you get 18x9.5 in the rear you could use the same tire (255/35/18) without issue.
It would put a slight stretch on the tire, but nothing unsafe or that would look funny.
The best would be a 265/30/18 tire...but unfortunately it's like a unicorn...doesn't exist.
If you are going to 9.5 on the rear, aim for an offset around +38 to +40 to bring the rim close to the fender without rubbing issues.
If you plan on keeping the stock height, you might be able to fit a +35, but ideally aim to +38 to avoid any potential issues down the road...should you lower it or put tires on that have beefy sidewalls.

okay I see, my car is lowered but it’s a minimal drop at about 1 inch all around so I don’t think it will be an issue. But thanks for clarifying!

I run 255/45/18's on the rear and 225/50's on the front (2104 IS350 S Sport) since day one. At 53K miles, zero issues. It's a much taller tire than OEM, so 64mph at 60 on the speedo. Much smoother, quieter ride, cornering is not an issue, plus it prevents the huge pothole issues in the NE. The tires fill out the wheel well. On DSW's, getting 20K miles with staggered set-up in extremely hilly terrain. Car is stock height.
Hope this helps!

I have FSport lowering springs on my car and I am running 18x8.5 +35 front and 18x9.5 +38 rear with the stock tire sizes on these wheels. No issues with rubbing front or rear.
