Had my car for 40,000 miles, and no issue there. Granted, I didn't use the driver door armrest that heavily, but I did use it on longer drives. I used the center console armrest a lot more, but also had no issue there.
I’ve got 80,000km on mine. No tears or anything anywhere. I condition the materials regularly and am very careful about how I get in and out of car, where I rest arms etc.
That vinyl seems incredibly incredibly thin. Like incredibly thin. This is cost-cutting for you, folks. Using a thinner vinyl throughout probably saves Toyota a couple dollars a car, but spread out over thousands and thousands of units, it adds up. This is what happens when you let spreadsheets design cars. I'm sure the IS isn't the only victim, but that's probably modern cars for you in general.
We are having dozens of owners got their driver side armrest broken, as shown in the pictures, how about you guys?
Do I cant help but notice every picture ive seen with some wear like this, including seats, has been on a red interior IS. Does thst seem like a common trend on the 12 you're aware of?
It looks very faded too in that 2nd picture.
Holy Sh*|t, that is depressing, a sore sight, & some seriously bad f'n news, not to mention on red interiors.

This is what concerns me coz for IS350 FSport RWD red interiors CAN be rare, and a big factor in my decision to make an impulse buy. I barely maintain the interior and so far it's OK knock on wood *knock* *knock* *knock*. There's another thread here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...l#post10796372

The same applies to sheet metal - quality decreased significantly from the early 2000s.

My mileage is only 43000km, from 2014 to 2020, I always have my car parking in an indoor, underground garage and therefore no direct sunshine.
I always lean my elbow on the armrest. The crack was just a little when it began to appear, and the growing wider and wider as you could imagine...

Mine is a 2014 F SPORT RWD... barely over 40,000km, never parked under the sun...
