Exclamation Instrument Cluster - Black Out

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted. Hope everyone is doing well amid COVID-19.

I was driving around today running some quick small errands and on my drive back my entire instrument cluster blacked out.

It's happened before but it would just go off and come back on within 10-15 secs. This time, it blacked out for good.

Anyone ever have this issue? If so, what is the easiest way to fix this on my own? (My car is still covered under L/Cert Warranty until June 26th; Dealer said to just bring it in; Unable to give me duration of repair)

I'm trying to upload the image, but I'm sure if anyone has this problem they know exactly what I'm talking about.

Atleast you are under warranty, I've read this is several thousand to replace. Does turning the car off then back on fix it?

I've heard of the multi display going blank, but that's a radio head unit issue...completely unrelated to the issue you're having.

Other than two members with an issue with the sliding gauge, I don't think anyone else has experienced this.
It sounds like a lose electrical connection causing the meter to shut down...just a guess.

Record it next time it does it incase dealer gives you the “could not duplicate” story. And that cluster is expensive as hell, get it fixed before your warranty is up.

agreed. OP, you say you’ve had this happen multiple times? I just rolled over 15k miles and have needed once experienced any sort of cluster issue. Please be sure to take it in before the warranty is up and you’re stuck with a $3k repair bill.

Thanks guys!

Appreciate everyone's input.

The dealer is going to take care of it. The repair bill came out to $32xx, warranty took care of it.

They even said this has never happened before to them.

Keep an eye on it still...it's nice that they threw a cluster at for $3K, but was it really the issue.
Considering we've never seen a cluster fail this way, still leaves room that the actual part isn't the issue.
Hopefully they check the connectors while swapping it out to make sure everything was good there.
I hope it's just the cluster...

Being the issue was intermittent at first I think my moneys on a connections issue.

Here's a link of what's happening. Took the video this morning before I left to the dealer.

I think so too.

But they informed me that since this has never happened before, they will replace the whole cluster to avoid further issues. This will also have an extended 3 year warranty on it. I think its safe to say that I'll be okay.

Damn great thing for Lexus Warranty - HUGE moola savings $$$$. Also got CPO but THINK my warranty is completely exhausted which is a dreadful feeling.
I think however with CPO supposed to get two more complimentary maintenances (knock on wood *knock* *knock* *knock*).
