Default can one drive w/o instrument cluster in?

Hello all,

Great info re: the instrument cluster lighting. my problem is that just one needle (tach) has been out for a year. i've called mikado and they said $300 to fix. dealer wants $605 for just the part !!

Question is: using jim walker's instructions to take out cluster, can one drive without it in, once i send it away? Wondering if I can use the car...

Thanks much.

'92LS-- analog odometer (not the digital as in '93 up)

Yes you can. Just remember to re-connect the outer black face plate that has the connections for the cluster first. Remember not to start the car or turn on the ignition with these items disconnected.....it will trigger your air bag light.
