Default Weird Dead Battery Behavior

Anybody ever experience this? The battery died somehow and then when I walked into my garage the car was making this noise. It didn’t stop until I disconnected the negative terminal. I jump started it and all is good, I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I think I left something on in the car at some point and that’s what killed the battery but just found it weird that it was making this noise nonstop and god knows for how long as I hadn’t driven my IS in like 4 days. I usually only drive my IS like once a week these days and that’s never happened before lol.

I think I've experienced that sound when I tried starting the car when the battery was dead, but only when it was "cranking" (in quotes cause it didn't actually crank that time).

Yeah the starter clicking I’ve totally heard and experienced before with dead batteries but this was totally different. It was really bizarre.

Same sound on mine too that’s normal when battery is weak. I assumed lots of more people will have dead battery issue due to shelter at home.

I guess my question is, what exactly is it in the dash making that noise haha.

I didn't watch the video (working) but I assume it's some solenoid trying to wake up w/ low voltage. So it's cycling on and off rapidly.

As far as battery.. careful about running it low too many times. Not only does it degrade the battery, it can put strain on the alternator due to the car having to charge it back up as well as having to recharge/cycle a diminished battery. I think one or two times should be ok but from what I understand, it's a vicious cycle after that as the walls between the + and - get thinner and thinner.

Worst case scenario you just kill your alternator faster. So if it goes out at 100k, you'll know why!

You should be OK though if it just happened once.

Too late for that. I was also thinking about that when my battery was dying often due to the aftermarket 4x4shop screen due to being a guinea pig for that. It got fixed a while back (software fixes) but it pretty much killed my battery and I replaced it after only having it 2 years haha. I’m sure I’ll have to replace my alternator sooner rather than later due to all the strain I’ve been putting on it. It is what it is though.
