Merged 2021 IS re-design / refresh threads
i found it interesting that this car wasn't even worthy enough for his regular channel. this is his second channel for "fun"
i was going nuts looking for this video on his main channel where he does reviews.
his basic takeaway is that this car is just adequate, but not for lack of trying on Lexus's part, but because that buyers aren't into cars all that much and the IS can't really compete with Audi, BMW, Mercedes in terms of sales.

The LC500 does fun and speed in a very classy way. I'd love to own one of those.
Installing a new powertrain in this IS refresh for just a year or two would mean quite a bit of development cost (even if they do use parts bin parts) which Lexus would certainly not recoup w/ sales.
I think Lexus will use the remainder of the 3IS lifecycle to figure out whether or not an all-new generation IS would be viable.
I think if they do make one, it should be substantially larger than the current IS. Maybe do what Acura did when they merged the TL and TSX lines and created the TLX. Acura didn't have room in their portfolio for both cars.

I wouldn't mind just a bit more power, it's been basically the same for over a decade. 340 or 350 hp for street driving would be perfect. Then again I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants my RCF detuned. Can't really get aggressive with the throttle without getting dangerously fast. Maybe that's why I liked the LC500, the weight tended to slow things down a bit, if I could only fit my kids back there...
lol this guy still complains about the Lexus turns signals, he's too incompetent to learn how to use it.
