2014/2015 Radio Receiver Interchangeable?
Recently the radio in my 2014 is250 with the ML system has been plagued by the boot loop issue and after taking it to the dealer I was told that I needed to replace the radio. I have been scouring the internet and haven't been able to find the exact model that is in my car but I have found radios that are from a 2015 is250 with the ML package. My part number is 86130-53041 and the ones I have come across online are 86130-24021 & 86130-53N02. Are the 2015 radios compatible in the 2014 IS's?
After taking out my radio, I noticed that the radio's are identical all around except my radio has a brown plug. This brown plug, however, had no harness plugged into it and isn't in use on my vehicle. Can anyone shed some light on what the brown plug is for?
I am trying to get my radio replaced without breaking the bank and the price the dealership gave me nearly made me choke. Any assistance/recommendations into this matter would be greatly appreciated.
This radio was also used on the 2015 model, but I don't believe it was used in 2016 onward.
Regardless of the extra brown connector slot, once you find a radio with the same faceplate ID or part number, it will work in your vehicle.
As you noted there was nothing plugged into the brown slot anyways...also that faceplate ID will always be associated to that part number, and vice versa.
The brown slot could have been for early production radios and eliminated down the road.
The other two radio part numbers you quoted: the 24021 is for the RC, and I'm not sure about the second one.

I am having a hard time finding the exact radio and faceplate ID online, it being a Canadian model and all.
I see that the model number I provided "86130-24021" is from and RC, despite the radio looking identical.
I have found this one from ebay: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/2015-2016-Le...53.m1438.l2649
It states that it is compatible with the 2015 is250 and was wondering if this would work with my car? What are the determining factors from radio to radio that would dictate whether or not it will work across different models?

For the eBay ad, it states it will fit 250 C (convertible) as well, which is really a 2IS body style, which has a completely different radio altogether...so there's no way it would fit.
Based on the list below, it looks like a P10998 radio will physically fit/plug into an IS, but may not be functionally compatible...plus you would likely need a micro SD card with the correct map data...so that's another $200.
You will notice that the part numbers are different, this is likely due to the fact that the radio comes with the mounting brackets, therefore a different package part number than the actual radio itself.

If you're referring to that card like piece under the black connector at the top, that is the circuit board.
Without the micro SD card I'm pretty sure it won't boot up, it will just ask you to insert the card continuously.
And you can't use the card from your unit because it's married to the unit already.
It would be a gamble for sure.

When I took my radio out there was a little door held down by a screw on the right side of the unit and behind it was an SD card, I thought that maybe this was for the OS. I have circled it in red below.
I've never seen it available separately or mentioned before.
If you happened to take it out, was there any writing or markings on it? Now I'm curious...of course I'm not ripping out my radio to check mine lol

It was a generic 8GB SD card. It didn't have any Lexus branding on it, and it didn't have any numbers etched on it that I remember.
It would be interesting to see if you swapped both if the unit functioned normally like your old unit before it started rebooting.
