'17 Fsport uses LED which I think only Lexus can do the replacement (from what I read in the manual). But whenever I search online, I see the size D4S which I think is an HID bulb.
Anyhow, LED should have great life, but it doesn't mean it won't die prematurely.
They should be LED starting at model years 2017+, model years 2014-2016 should be Xenon (D4S). I think it might be more cost effective to buy a used pair or brand new set since I think these are sealed really good.
My 14 350 non F-Sport has LED. Most non F-Sport have the HID I notice. May have been part of the premium package.
HID also I believe was coming with the single projector headlight, and LED with the dual projector headlights. HID are more white and the LED are more blue-ish.
I can't imagine why it would be dealer only replacement, very highly unlikely...but would make sense if dealer posted that somewhere.
^ correct.
FYI. OEM toyota/lexus D4S PN: 90981-20013 are PHILIPS 42402WX
These are 6000K, D4S type bulbs. 12v, 35W.
Unless you like to waste money at dealerships, you should just buy the Philips brand direct from them or a vendor. It's 1/4 of the cost. There are OEM toyota brand for $38.99 a pair on ebay. $156 A bulb from toyota is ridiculous.

Nope, my 2018 has the LED headlights and it's a single projector headlight. Also there is no hint of blue in my LED headlights. It's pretty crystal white.

Huh, guess I read incorrect info on a previous post.
Curious to look into the different headlight options now. My LEDs are unmistakably blue-ish.
16’ IS200t F-Sport has LED lights . I thought those were Xenon D4S because thats what I ordered online to replace one low that is not working, but turns out that after taking out the bumper and the head lamp, it is completely sealed on the back and one only have access, by removing 3 screws, to the LED module. How I knew? Well basic, the module have a sticker which says LED module on it. Long story short this is a very bad design, and I’ll have to pay Lexus to get it fixed. I also checked the fuses but all are good. My thoughts are that they will need to take apart the lamp brake the seal between the housing and the front clear face, replace the bulb, seal it again etc etc etc. So Im expecting a $500 hit on this.

2014-2016 HID is single projector
2014-2016 LED is dual projector
2017+ LED is either single projector or triple projector
What your car has varies based on country, model, package and specific options.
The HID bulb is a Toshiba D4S bulb, part number 90981-20024. The LED lights are not sold separately and require the replacement of the headlight assembly.

Still , and very late I thought of it at this hour and not when I got the headlight out, to check the LED module is working properly prior to proceed and buy a new headlight assy replacement, which is around 500’s or 600’s. New assy dont come with the modules, only the LEDs.
Thanks for the info. BTW
