Anyone else get this snail mail letter?
Safety Connect vehicle location inaccurate?
Need to go to dealer for a three hour service
appointment?

Letter came today.

Listed my VIN number.

Announcing “Limited Service Campaign”.
“Remedy Notice”

Paraphrasing letter:

Data Communication Module (DCM) works with
GPS to support Safety Connect....
after Nov 2 2019 the GPS will be calculated
incorrectly......dealer will reprogram DCM for free
Will take 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

That’s it....

It's for Service Campaign KLG. I am going to get mine done this Friday - will let you guys know if anything interesting happens - probably not.

Not sure what you mean......you will never know about the software fail
until the airbag fires and you are not properly located.......if I understand.

I had mine done almost 2 weeks ago. It popped up on their website when i was scheduling for my routine service. It did take around 2 hours for them to do the recall. It was just leaving a laptop connected to the car that would wipe the current version of safety connect, and then install the new version. They gave me a loaner for the weekend so i wouldnt have to wait around for it.

Fine, as a software guy I acknowledge that updates often have unintended consequences. I have a couple of bug fixes under my belt that also broke other things.

Hopefully the car would just work fine, since nav is not directly tied into the gauges working - stuff like that. And systems like airbags are not controlled by the infotainment. Imagine if your head unit crashed right before you got in a collision - then no airbags?

I'm planning on taking a test drive of an RC F while I wait. Wish me luck...

I'm bringing mine in at 8am tomorrow and will wait.
They said four hours.

Mine took two hours. I used the two hours to take a couple of (yes a couple) test drives in an RC F. I recommend that to anyone.
