Found a power-folding mirror kit complete with motors...
Very tempted to try this. Not sure where those harnesses plug in, presumably to the back of the switch. I'd hope it comes with instructions. This task seems intimidating, and I know to do it right and have it integrated per OEM, is 10x more work. But honestly I wouldn't mind a simple universal push button switch to fold the mirrors back and forth at will. It's really not that complicated and I don't need my mirrors folded ALL the time. There's also universal chinese motors for $27 each and I'd make my own custom wiring harness for it. Just have to tear down my CT mirrors (same as IS mirrors, or at least the outer part is) to see what jamming this motor in there should be like. What the mounting points look like, etc. I'm working on another mirror project soon so I'll take pics once i tear the mirrors down. There's got to be a circular hole where these motors jam in, unless the entire frame for a folding mirror is different than the job just got costlier.
Anyway without further ado, check it out. These are listed for the CT but the CT, ES, RC, I think the LS, IS of the same vintage apparently share the same mirrors.

it's also pretty cool what mods sites like Alibaba has. they have 40x more than eBay.

Incredibly interested in this. I don't even care if they'll fold when parked, I'm happy to just have a button to do this anywhere in the car.
Just need somebody who wants to be the test mule for this little project...

Without looking the product up I'm assuming there is a camera that mounts to the bottom of both the side mirrors to form part of the 360 view.
Since the mirrors would come apart to install the folding motors, these cameras can be added at the same time...I think that's what Sonn meant.
The camera's should be discrete...like two small domes.

Having just replaced a factory mirror motor (we are lucky enough to have factory auto fold here), it looks to me the aliexpress motor would replace the current mirror mount that mounts foot to mirror. Total gut job of current mirror assembly and rebuild around motor. Takes a bit of time but not that hard to do. Think harness would connect to each motor and IGN power to run the interface
