Default 2014 IS250 Nav Stuck In Startup Loop

The nav in my 2014 IS 250 seems to be stuck in some kind of startup loop. When I start the car, the screen shows the blue swirling lines, then the Lexus badge then goes black. It does this over and over in a continuous loop. It’s been doing this for two days now. The screen works when the backup camera is activated.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and try it again.

Thanks, I did try that and now the nav doesn’t do anything and the screen is totally black. I also tried disconnecting the battery for an hour and same result. Does anyone have any other ideas? Is there a procedure for rebooting the nav?

The reality is you need a new head unit for the radio.
Based on your year and symptoms, this is a common failure.

Last thing you can try is remove the micro SD card when the vehicle is off.
Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes....then reconnect it and start the car.
If the navi does boot up it will ask you to insert the micro SD card...insert it and it might boot up to normal operation.
If that still doesn't work, then you need the head unit for sure.

Thanks- I tried that as well and no luck. I guess I’ll take it into the dealer and have it diagnosed. A new head unit from Lexus sounds like it’s gonna be expensive and the technology is not even that current. Anyone have any ideas on cost? Are there aftermarket “plug-n-play” alternatives? Sources for refurbished units?

Your lowest cost will be to purchase a used replacement unit on ebay. Look for one pulled from a 2014 to 2015 car.

Dealer will likely quote you around $2k to replace the unit. Check ebay, you may get lucky and find one.
The unit has a faceplate ID that starts with the letter "P"...I believe at the bottom left corner...just make sure the replacement unit has the same number.
Unfortunately there are no aftermarket solutions...it's that radio or nothing.

Thanks for the replies and info! So, I took it to the dealer and they confirmed that the head unit was fried and quoted me $2200 to install a refurbished unit. After much searching, I found only ONE P10433 unit, for $1500, and that was after doing a couple different nationwide auto salvage/parts searches. It was from a low mileage car and comes with a 1 year warranty, so I pulled the trigger.

Unfortunately there was nothing in the usual places (eBay, etc.) that matches my radio, though there were several that didn’t match my faceplate # that were much less expensive. The parts dealer told me that a year ago, the ones that matched my faceplate # were going for $900 or so but “for some reason” there has been a run on these units in the last year and the going price is now $1500, since used parts pricing fluctuates based on supply and demand.

Just thought maybe some would be interested in what was going on. I’ll report back on the install- I’m going to try and do it myself.

I have a 2014 IS350 and the same issue happens to me. I reached out to Lexus corporate and they covered the whole unit plus labor. Give that a try and see if they will honor it for you.

Wow, good deal! Were you still under warranty? If not, how far out of warranty were you?

No my warranty ended while back. It's a 2014 bought in 2014. Bought brand new.

My 2014 is350 had the exact same problem. I went to my mechanic whos was a lexus master tech and still had great relations with the dealership to replace the unit for me. It cost me $2250 CDN for a referb unit from Pioneer or around there, I remember it was a hair over 2k. He talked to all the guys in the shops and apparently this is a issue with Pioneer that was fixed in the later versions. No surprises there, they sorta rushed the 3is to market it seems.

It wasn't a new unit, just a fixed one. I asked if replacement units have ever failed and he said nope, every single car they replaced hasn't come back yet.

I have a 2014 IS250 with the same issue. I feel like this is a common issue in 2014 models and should be covered by Lexus to repair. My car is out of warranty as well. I will reach out to Lexus corporate.

Did you have any luck with this? My radio is still busted and was wondering if you had a positive outcome. If so, what did you say them to get them to cover it?

Thank you!
